Yes I had the same experience! It’s jarring to see professionals so keen on demonising people with a disorder mind you. I’m hoping you still found a good therapist that helped you work through those trauma.

Truth to that, absolutely. They are two faces of the same coin, but my main criticism was on that very fact, they give anything walking and talking an honorary BPD diagnosis without considering more fitting PDs, which I attributed to the erasure of any others in fandoms and the internet in general.

In my opinion Izzy Hands fits much more the BPD criterias, much more impulsive and emotional and prone to splitting. Edward is much more calculating and “in control”.

I think people that understand his character see him as a narcissist but would never admit to it bc of the stigma around it.

It’s very much so the NPD experience, especially fitting a backstory of severe trauma and the need to make a name out of himself. His constant need for admiration, attention, or any form of respect that changes depending on who he interacts with, who he needs to impress at the moment.

His constant seeking for identity all throughout his life, hiding behind different masks until he exhausts them and falls into the same depressive cycles. His manipulative behaviours, disregard for people and lack of empathy…etc
