Saying we shouldn't restrict smartphones for children because it's the apps not the phone that do the damage is like saying we should let children have access to cars as long as they don't drive them.

I agree with not designing curricula around jobs of the future but do you mean we shouldn’t teach coding at all?

Kids thrive on calm, not chaos. Schools where teachers have no authority cause anxiety, not schools where rules are clear and enforced. For children, nothing is more unsettling than feeling like no one’s in charge.

Behaviour Hubs: What we learned and why they should be kept The programme hasn't just taught us about behaviour. It's been an effective model for school improvement

Here’s an article I wrote on the Behaviour Hub scheme and why Labour should keep this approach…

Saying that it does have scary implications for exam markers when GCSE’s etc go online.

I’m not suggesting not looking at the student work that would be daft (as an understatement).

I fear I have done the program I use an I injustice. The level of feedback I get on a whole class and individual level especially after a few weeks is amazing.
It also gives the students a break down of they need to revise as as well as the areas they know well with a personalised list of videos.

Well yes that is perhaps naivety on my part.

But that happens with everything as one job is reduced another increases or takes its place. If I can quickly create a series of questions or mark homework then spend the time on something else, that’s a good thing to me.

I use it for diagnostic questions with the right prompt its accurate and saves me a lot of time.

It’s also used within a homework package we use and that self marks essay questions very accurately, I can (and do?check and amend before the marks go to students.

Two exciting possibilities for the Black Country in the AI announcement today:

- “further [AI] zones will be created in as-yet-unnamed “de-industrialised areas of the country with access to power””

- “accelerate investment in energy sources including renewables and small modular nuclear reactors”

It’s really rubbish @comp4sch.bsky.social I don’t know what else to say

Agreed. The more help the better.

We’re trying to do our bit by making these resources free for schools. If you know anyone who may benefit please do share: bsky.app/profile/code...

Scrapping the @wearecomputing.bsky.social hubs is a mistake the work done by the hubs is amazing and needs to be fully funded.

We are nowhere near where is needed with computer science education nationally and there is so much more to do.

Dear School Leaders ,

Please check on your SENCOs. Many will have statutory deadlines to meet this week and some will find themselves working in the school holidays when they should be focusing on family .

Thanks in advance with your support with this.
