Apparently telling this guy to do bad things to himself warrants a 12 hour ban, but his behaviour doesn't warrant one.
I guess one silver lining of getting a 12 hour ban around 6pm is that I should be asleep for most of it.
Got 12hr banned from the hell-scape site because I was baited by an overt fascist into telling him to do something that I thought I had grown out of. They make me so mad though. I should have just gone with the classic "follow your leader" but the urge to be explicit was too strong.
The most convoluted explanation that relies on the most assumptions is most likely correct.
An on fire Cybertruck outside a building with Trump written over the door.
My 2025 prediction.
I do have to concede that Jimmy did some genuinely good humanitarian work after his time in office. It doesn't absolve him of his wrongdoings but it puts him a hell of a lot higher up than Bill or Barack.
*March 1, 1977, if it's not clear we are still talking about 1977.
Instead, Carter ramped up aid with funding and weapons to the Indonesian regime, brazenly flaunting the human rights requirements imposed on American aid. FAIR noted in a 1994 article that “by the time Carter left office, about 200,000 people had been killed” in East Timor.
On March 1, 95 members of the Australian Parliament sent a letter to Carter claiming the Indonesian troops were carrying out “atrocities” and asking the American President “to comment publicly on the situation in East Timor.” The response was crickets.
Residents of occupied areas were subjected to massive re-education campaigns. The death toll from violence by Indonesian forces, malnutrition, and disease quickly climbed into the tens of thousands. The killing reached its peak in 1977.
In late 1975, Kissinger and Ford gave the green light to Suharto to invade neighboring East Timor. After occupying the capital city Dili, Indonesian troops systematically rooted out resistance by the Revolutionary Front for an Independent East Timor (FRETILIN) and the civilian population.
In 1980 he approved an operation to crush a pro-democracy uprising in Gwangju, S. Korea against the US-backed military dictatorship. S. Korean military forces killed at least 600 people and injured over 4,000. They beat people with clubs, stabbed, & mutilate them with US supplied weapons.
His administration caused the global economic conditions that lead to the debt crisises of the global South in the 80s. The policies of his administration set the precedent for military involvement in and heavily contributed to the economic conditions of the middle East, leading to the war on terror
He supported Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge maintaining a UN seat. He also paved the way for the neoliberal reforms of Reagan in the 80s by doing significant deregulation of key industry like transport, telecommunications, banking, and aviation.
Before you glaze Jimmy Carter for being "kind old man who digs wells and build houses", remember that he insisted on engaging with pinochet and other right wing authoritarian leaders in South America. This includes pumping military aid into El Salvador which was massacring and torturing civilians.
Google finally got around to pushing the "u-block origin is not a valid plugin" update on me, so I finally got around to pushing "import settings from another browser" on Firefox.
I know it's not likely to change anything, but I sent a well detailed & formal email to Chris Penk after learning he had overturned Candace Owens being banned from coming to NZ. Hopefully might inspire some other people to speak up directly.
I'm going to try really, really hard to not let my ADHD inaction get in the way of producing left wing political content for a younger male audience in the coming weeks.
The things I am reading and seeing going on on the hell site are starting to deeply affect me but I also can't seem to rip myself away from it. How can so many people be so horrible?
stuff.co.nz/politics/360... Given that this bullshit was going on today, the US election should not still be at the top of NZ news websites.
It is a political parties job to win votes from the people, it is not the peoples job to give votes to a political party for simply not being a different party.
People who didn't vote aren't responsible for a Trump victory, people who voted for Trump are responsible.
Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #491,635!
Flirting with the idea of moving back over here but my brain is so broken is just wants to read twitter and get angry about it. I say "no, brain, that's not good for us" and it goes "maybe so, BUT...."
Blocked because I think that whoever voted directly for these wankers are more responsible than those who didn't vote at all. Lmaooooo never change, politics, never change. #nzpol
While I am proud of my progress and ability to sometimes and somewhat overpower my diminished executive function, I'm getting real fucking tired man.
