"Critics say the bill’s structure would add burdens for some people, especially women and others who have changed their legal names because of marriage, assimilation or to better align with their gender identity."
does anyone else find some fun in writing alt text for images? I try to do it for most photos for work, and it is like a little puzzle for me to solve that has lots of correct answers, a tiny break that uses a different part of my brain than the harder work.

Fascinating read on how a suspicious pitch highlighted a growing problem in freelance journalism: A flood of generative AI that even prestige publications don't catch, complete with fabricated quotes, from scammers who see opportunity in a field so many real humans are struggling to survive in.

My newspaper got rid of a long-standing ban on poems in letters to the editor, which means we now have a submission that attempts to rhyme "shingle" with "Mengele."
A motorcyclist barreled down between two lanes of stopped cars on the I-35E frontage road so he could turn right onto Brinker. He even took both hands off his handles to show off. All of us drivers could only stare helplessly at his backpack in the form of Garfield.

Phone screenshot from Airbnb app showing a map with one rental for $141 for two nights, named "Villa in Paris," two full beds, smoking.
FYI, the cheapest vacation rental in Paris, Texas, is the "Villa in Paris," aka a room at a Mȯtel 6 that gets 2.7 stars on TripAdvisor.
