Join me Saturday at the Dove Library in Carlsbad for a special screening from Season 3 of The Night Agent and Q&A about the show, the book, and my new novel The Method! adventuresbythebook....
The Night Agent Season 3 is out today! We had the best time at the premiere celebrating all the incredible work by the writers, cast, and crew. Grateful to be a part of this—and for the inspiration for The Method!
Actually midnight Pacific time tonight!
Always love talking craft and really enjoyed this conversation with Steven James about The Method for the Story Blender podcast. Some tips in here on how to avoid over-plotting and how to let characters grow and develop when you start from a premise.

They have a few signed copies left, too. Swing by or order through their site and support an amazing indie bookstore: www.warwicks.com/boo...
Huge thanks to everyone who came to Warwick's for last night’s in-person launch of The Method! Bookseller Cris was a stunt actor in a former life--a perfect host for this story!--and some dear friends from my hometown surprised me, too. Such a great time! 🙏
SD folks: Come say hi at Warwick’s tonight at 730. I’ll be talking about The Method and sharing some screen news!

The Method is about the masks we wear, onstage and off, and somewhere along the way it became my favorite novel of them all.

And it came from a premise that wouldn’t let me go: what if an actor, in order to survive, had to become as dangerous as the characters she played on screen?
This story came from seeing up close the incredible work actors put into their craft. It came from lifelong friends who risked and sacrificed to realize their stage dreams.
I've never written a book like this before.
The Method is out today!
I’m thrilled to share that a screen adaptation is already in the works—a cool full-circle moment given how the novel was partly inspired by my time on The Night Agent set.

I can’t wait to share The Method with everyone next week. What if an actor found herself in the fight of her life, with no one there to say cut?
(And even take time between setups to goof off with a visiting author).
That was a big part of the inspiration for what later become The Method and Anna Vaughn’s character, then Anna took on a life of her own.
Around ten pm, they broke down that set and moved to a new location to set up and start shooting an entirely new sequence. I was completely blown away by all the hard work, dedication and training everyone put in and the actors’ ability to switch in and out of such intense roles.
On my first visit to the Night Agent set in Vancouver—back when no one had any idea what the show would become—I watched the cast and crew take something like nine hours to painstakingly choreograph and shoot a one-minute fight scene. So many broken tables.
*Nine hours* for a one-minute fight...
Honored to have this from Jack Carr
