As a reporter, I tried to learn from everyone I interviewed. My personal goal was for the lessons I learned to go far beyond the stories I wrote. I loved knowing how elite people thought and acted.
A lesson I learned from Sam Hilliard, on outside voices:

You often hear pitchers talk about controlling their breathing. But you don’t have to be an elite athlete to utilize grounding techniques.

An update: I’m no longer the Braves beat writer for the AJC. I won’t discuss the details of what occurred, but I did feel like I owed it to you all to thank you for your support in my time on the beat. Braves Country is really special. I’m already excited about whatever is next.
Spencer Strider sat on a training table last April. He knew he blew out.
“This is great,” he said.
This is how he thinks. Instead of a lost season, he saw an opportunity to grow during rehab.

This winter, Austin Riley worked with Logan Brumley, the son of Austin’s late mentor, Mike Brumley. Together, Riley and Logan made an adjustment the third baseman hopes leads to a big 2025.

Jake Marisnick has joined Braves camp as a non-roster invitee.
Ian Anderson said he's fueled by the goal of getting back to who he was in the World Series and prior to that. Anderson, if healthy, should be a lock for the roster because he's out of options and the Braves won't have Spencer Strider in the rotation on opening day.
The Dodgers spent a ton, but the Braves say they still love their roster’s chances.
“Just because we didn’t go out and spend a bunch of money doesn’t mean anything inside here,” Matt Olson said.

Brian Snitker said everyone who had to report Monday did report. He said there are no injury surprises after physicals (none besides the guys the Braves knew were injured).
Please send your complaints about every lineup, too, just like it’d be on Twitter
A.J. Minter began last spring by saying it was "World Series or bust" for Atlanta.
The same confidence still there?
Matt Olson chuckled before answering.
"The confidence is still there," he said. "We are not going to be making any statements."
Chad Kuhl, Jake Diekman and Dylan Covey are in camp as non-roster invitees — now official and happened after Braves announced NRIs.

Knew you’d let me fill the void. Great friend
Some folks have asked, so addressing now: The AJC is re-evaluating its podcast slate this year. They are not sure where the Braves Report, launched three years ago, will land.
No episodes currently planned. Sorry guys.
The Braves' lone notable addition, to this point, is Jurickson Profar. And yet, projections still love them. So, perhaps both can be true:
1. It would've been nice to see them do more (they still can)
2. They still have a great roster
Spring is here!

That’s actually the pitchers and catchers’ first workout
Welcome to baseball season. Braves pitchers and catchers report tomorrow. I report — in both senses — Wednesday, which is the first day of access.
Next year is in Santa Clara 👀
