Any authors who want to write about magic should take a ceramics class. The way potters talk about clay and glazes is basically a bunch of wizards talking about potions
I wrote a big post about my night at The Original Art Show, (including how to spot an editor versus an illustrator at a party)

My kid complains about his pre-k class, but like, he's just eating snacks and doing yoga and taking naps. I'll switch with you dude
What could be more timely than these two inspiring books that tell the stories of women creating and saving art, bringing light to a dark world. @vanlieshoutstudio.bsky.social @erinmcguire.bsky.social @01firstsecond.bsky.social kidsbookaday.com/2025/09/25/c...

Also lol when I forgot what an axolotl was called
"select a letter to remember the positive aspects of labor pain"
Looking through old screenshots, and Lol I forgot I had to do my labor/pregnancy classes online during the 2020 pandemic, this was not a helpful acronym you guys
I did another one for spooky season, I am not painting trees ever again by the way

Drew Struzan’s poster of Indiana Jones and the Temple Of Doom
Just heard Drew Struzan passed away 😞 His incredible work has given me and countless others so much awe, joy and inspiration!
I had posters of his work as a teen, I began using color pencils because I thought he used them too. Always inspired by him. Just utterly heart broken.
RIP Drew Struzan.

What's up #internationalcatday! A new piece, part of a WWII middle grade I'm working on. My cat Loki was a reluctant model 😬

"We need to be the party of human dignity" like can that be the whole rallying cry? Please?

I just got a project killed. You think it won’t happen to “established” artists? Wrong. It does.
Am I bummed? Sure. But I know it’s not personal, they needed something different.
I vent here a bit to feel better. You may have a similar experiences too. it’s ok, we keep creating. Moving forward.💖
This meeting could have been a walk in the sunshine
(me, a dehydrated husk who wants water to be slightly more exciting) Imagination? No one knows more about imagination than LaCroix
(oh god please help i can't focus on drawing because my allergies are killing me) Claritin lets me live the creative life I've always dreamed of!
I wish artists got to do more brand partnerships that had nothing to do with art. Like, can Claritin and LaCroix sponsor me?
Just saw the saddest ad for Meta AI where a woman asks AI how to decorate her house for her Moby Dick book club meet up, asks AI for puns to name the snacks, asks AI to summarize Moby Dick so she doesn’t have to read it, and then asks AI for discussion prompts to talk about the book. Extremely grim.
It sucks to *wake up* tired. like, excuse me, I paid that bill
imagine not understanding that Ghibli's cozy food and windswept vistas are intended to contrast the struggle against the horrors, and the difficult but necessary work and pain of fighting for a slice of peace
the point is that the comforts are worth fighting for, but make no mistake: it's a fight
Happy PTA trailer day to all who celebrate 🤗
Hearing there might be another wave of newcomers?
Welcome! 💙❤️

I hate when I send an email to someone and check it off my to do list and then they write me back???? No, I DID it. Don’t you see.
The woman sitting next to me on my flight looked me dead in the eyes, said “I DON’T FLY WELL” and pulled out her rosary, in case you’re wondering how my morning is going
Let’s make books handout for kids, detailing various roles in making books; author, illustrator, editor, designer, marketing/publicity, librarians/booksellers/teachers and finally readers.
Two worksheets, “be a writer” with a writing mad lib, and “be an illustrator” with some drawing prompts.
Two more worksheets, “be an editor” with editorial marks to practice on some editable sentences, and “be a cover designer” with four books needing covers.
Two final handouts: “be a librarian, bookseller or teacher” with six kids and six books to match, and “be a reader” with preferences in genre and types of books to narrow your reading preferences to help find more books to enjoy.
Here is a handout I made for my kid’s class last week, when I went in to talk to them about making books. I Frankensteined together a bunch of art I already had to make it, and filled other stuff in. But it was a big hit, so I’m sharing it here in case you know any kids interested in making books!
