💥New publication in Population Studies: We explore how health in early adulthood influences fertility, using data from the 1958 British birth cohort. Read more here 👇
We find that poor SRH (mostly among men) and a BMI outside the healthy range (mostly among women) at age 23 are associated with lower fertility and underachieving fertility goals.
We also find that employment and union history partly mediate (but do not erase) the effect of health on fertility.
