I downloaded an app that is, even as I speak, going back through my X account and deleting all my old tweets. More than 75,000 of them, apparently.
It has to be done but it still makes me sad. I still miss old Twitter. It was a big part of my life for a long time & nothing has replaced it.

We're getting ready to release Facebook support for @cyd.social! Want to beta test it? Read this and fill out the form by this weekend if you're interested nextcloud.lockdown.systems/apps/forms/s...
Yes! I used @cyd.social! I had already downloaded a local copy of my data, so when I used the free account to delete all my tweets it was VERY fast. And I had a LOT of tweets from years of use.
If you want to delete your old tweets and keep the bangers, I strongly recommend the @cyd.social premium plan. It was well worth the 35 bucks.

We're about to release @cyd.social for iPhone and Android, making it easy to backup and delete your Bluesky data, except for what you want to keep!
Want to beta test? Read this and fill out the form before March 16 if you're interested nextcloud.lockdown.systems/apps/forms/s...
Three days ago, we finally got around to archiving and purging our Xitter account.
Start to finish, the process took just under two and a half days. That was 18 years worth of data, consisting of 12,000+ tweets, retweets, likes, and DMs.
Thanks to @cyd.social for making the task so easy.

Guess what? I’ve been slowly but surely working on a @cyd.social mobile app with support for basically making your Bluesky account ephemeral. It’s not ready yet, but as I test I’m going to start deleting my old posts, reposts, likes, and chats (chat messages in my account, anyway)
Also shout out to @cyd.social for making it easy and able to do so locally on my machine rather than depend on a cloud service.
We used @cyd.social to delete around 100k tweets this week. The platform makes it easy to migrate your old content here, too.
One click away...
Yes you can! From Cyd you can import directly from an archive instead of logging into an X account docs.cyd.social/docs/x/archi...
Also as part of my "decluttering my life and purging what I don't need anymore" weekend, I ran this yesterday and finally deleted all my old tweets on the bad site. Felt good!
We finally got off the dime and used @cyd.social to delete our 100K or so posts over on X. You should too. (We're still there with a placeholder to prevent username squatting.)
If you're not already off Twitter/X? Try @cyd.social. Easy to migrate your old posts here.
Started X erasure process with @cyd.social 😏
It's a bug in X. We think they use a cached value instead counting the actual number of tweets. In any case, it's frequently incorrect even though the tweets are actually deleted.
How to move from X Twitter. bsky.app/profile/cyd....
@cyd.social hey shout out!
Just found out about you guys, love that people can move their old posts from X to Bluesky!
A table titled “Linotype Faces—“Fifty Books” Selections”. On the left is a list of typefaces with columns for years 1924–1941 and a Total column. The typefaces are listed in order of appearances Caslon Old Face is at the top with a count of 71. Next are Baskerville, Granjon, Janson, and Scotch.
In 1941, Linotype updated this booklet as “The Readability of Type” and added 1937–1941 to the table.
(This is a reply to an archived post from 2016. We just migrated everything from X using the wonderful @cyd.social and will finally archive our account there.)
Love @cyd.social! The work migration tools like Cyd have done is what inspired Bounce. Graph-matching is such a great way to work around closed networks and solve the cold start problem.
I left Twitter two years ago and haven’t regretted it once. Popping back in to say you can do it too. Staying here means choosing to let your mind marinate in a right-wing cesspool. I don’t care how savvy you imagine yourself to be, you’re not immune to its distortions. Get out.
Time for my annual Get Out tweet. Feels like a lost cause at this point but anyway …
@cyd.social is such a nifty tool. It’s rad to watch its creators dig into the details. Even radder to witness a team of hackers get together and build something so antithetical to corporate tech.
If you haven’t heard of @cyd.social and discovered how to claw back your data this is an excellent intro.
Another pitch for using @cyd.social to download a full archive of your content, delete it all, and then delete your account.
Cyd 1.1.21 is out. This is a bug fix release resolving issues importing from X export files and in migrating media to Bluesky:
