First matilija poppy bloom of the season!

A beautiful shot of Noodle on literally my oldest possession. This blanket was crocheted for me by a relative when I was in the womb. Over the years it decorated every living room couch in every house we ever lived in. When I moved here, I asked my mom for it, and it arrived in the mail days later.
Happy First Contact Day. ππΌ
Following the path to eccentric old lady with my comically large glasses
Went on a bird watching walk at Cal Botanical gardens today. Saw lots of birds, but took few photos. Picture here is a California Thrasher, California Spotted Towhee, hummingbird (not sure which kind), and a white crowned sparrow. Also saw a barn owl! I'll definitely go again!
Three phoebes hatched this year, but one sadly did not survive (fell or got pushed out of the nest). The other two fledged a few days later. This morning they're being fed by mom or dad on the floor below their nest on the security light by our side entrance. So cute!
I like my makeup today.
We have a fledge!
To whoever did this at the #NoKings in Boston: Thank you.β€οΈ
It made me tear up. And we must to be reminded of needless damage to humanity that results directly from the careless, bellicose bluster coming from the Pentagon and White House.
Realized that I should view my social media presence as a time capsule for future versions of me to enjoy. The idea of this makes me feel warm and fuzzy. To future me when you see this - I'm gonna try to curate some really good memories for you, just in case you need some help remembering. ππΌ
Some phoebe chicks about to graduate, I think... They're so big! Just as I took this picture, I saw what might have their parents away at the moment. Another hawk circling nearby.
Look who visited my garden!
this cat has been visiting from time to time for a few years. I've named it "Poppy" for the wildflowers that grow in the front yard. this is our first sighting this year and Kitty was resting right outside my bedroom window.
this Says Phoebe (no relation) has claimed the security light nest beside our side entrance this year. There are at least three baby chicks in the nest. photo taken through the window from inside the house.
the most beautiful centerpieces at one of my work events this week. I have found my new favorite florist.
A recent moody selfie.
I like the part in this juror information video that says our government officials have to be accountable to the same laws as everyone else.
Who takes a FaceTime call in the jury pool waiting room? I've never had an iPhone but isn't there a way to decline those or not have them come out on speaker?
This Valentine's Day my polycule is all off doing their own thing. The "holiday" stopped having meaning years ago. I'm gonna binge watch Star Trek and eat yogurt-covered raisins. Partner drove to LA for a party. One meta is in her room doing homework; the other is at a jewelry-making class.
I'm pissed off at First American Home Warranty and I want to scream it from the rooftops. Every single service I used to rely on is garbage now. Warranties, Insurances, healthcare, it's all a scam to extort money from folks and deliver NOTHING.
Excited to attend a Star Trek parody of Mozartβs The Abduction from the Seraglio by Pacific Opera Project tomorrow afternoon in my TNG era skant uniform. Trying to convince my partner to wear Vulcan/Romulan ears.

I need real life friends to geek out about star trek with
My metamour was buying a car this weekend, and our partner and I tagged along. When the salesman asked how we all know each other, we all just paused momentarily. "Best friends who live together," I said. "Like the Golden Girls."
It's not a lie, but the whole truth takes much longer to explain.
Went to a screening of Star Trek IV (the whale one) at the @academymuseum.bsky.social Museum featuring guest speaker @georgetakei.bsky.social last night. Incredible experience. I love being around my fellow nerds so much. The George and Gracie costumes made me giggle. π€ ππΌ

The arrests of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are a test for every MSM member with a platform. If you are not voicing your outrage at this blatant violation of the First Amendment, you are utterly discredited as a journalist.

Dragged a lounge chair into the yard to fill up on Vitamin D for my hour off social media today.
For the past 4 days I have intentionally set the phone down to go outside for at least one hour. It has been the difference between feeling panic and despair, and feeling capable and grounded.
I also recognizing the privilege I have, as outside is only possible right now because I live in So Cal.
