I've got to say, if step 1 is NOT "Fire EVERYONE in that decision-chain", it'll either a deliberate distraction or it will explode messily. Probably while still on the launchpad. π¦

itβs a great day for transphobes to eat shit
If you want to "bridge the gap" release the footage to a home streaming, even as a special event.
But don't tell us we have to watch a new version of a movie we *already* watched just so we're up to speed on the sequel.
That sounds like the worst experience, "Is this the new stuff? Is that?"
Between the firmly middle GenX age and the AuDHD diagnosis that wasn't even 5 years ago yet, I don't think I've ever seriously projected ahead even 5 years, let alone 10!
Between the decoding issue and ~30yrs of practice with subs, (plus A LOT of other reading), I can read subs FAR faster than I can decode speech in almost all situations.
Even when I do miss part of a line for whatever reason, it's not exactly difficult to pause, roll back a short bit, is it?
Easy mistake, totes not sus at all! π° π
A glimpse of a young universe.
Kind of an alfoil lining, that one, but small victories are victories still, and I'll take it!
(The co-worker sounds much more liken a cow-orker, really, too.)
"Together, autism often seems to win."
Yeah, except when it doesn't. 'Often' and 'seems' doing an awful lot of heavy lifting in that sentence. π
Not that there was any further need for it, but it does make another excellent example of how crows, ravens and such are all smarter than the majority of corporate types.
The entire corporate structure IS well optimised to beat as much original thought and initiative out of it's victims, after all.
Only a fool pisses off their local corvids. It takes a special kind of fool to think that it would be anything other than much worse for chromed-up corvids though.
Pretty much to be expected from a corpo though. π€¦
TBF, walking is bloody difficult to get right in a bipedal robot, and I expect running is only marginally easier once you get the momentum going.
It's technically rather impressive, but completing faster than a human has? Meh.
I recently watched an Icelandic Netflix show.
Not speaking any Icelandic (nor Swedish), the translation seemed fine. But whenever any character would drop into English (which was semi-often), the subs would just stop and not bother with it..
Extremely frustrating, given speech decoding issues!
Yeeesss... The Corvidea in general are not in need of any assistance or uplift, I'd expect.
Not that they wouldn't willingly take advantage of a free leg up at all, they're already far too smart to pass up on that!
I will, very begrudgingly, say this for Netflix: Someone there actually gives a shit about the formatting of their subtitles, and I've yet to see any of their subs not formatted correctly.
But no-one seems to give much of a shit about the accuracy of their translations, nor the reading experience.
I'll second that. I'm pretty certain this Phil was already plenty cynical enough by that point.
Ooh, special collectible signed version! ;D
[REDACTED] was a story I wrote in the classic horror author style: in chunks, to entertain some friends. I'm always surprised/pleased to see how much traction it's gained among short horror fans because its take on the "found footage"/creepypasta angle.
Transphobia should be opposed simply because it's awful for trans people. But if you need another reason, the way Black and Brown cis women are dehumanized and demeaned by transphobes is absolutely vile.

A flatscreen display on a "smart" water fountain, demanding to be reconnected to the internet.
In 1999, I was playing a decker in Shadowrun, and tried to distract a guard by hacking a water fountain to overflow, and my GM said "why would a water fountain be on the network? That's fucking stupid. No you can't try."
Well it's 2026 and I just want you to know, Phil, that I FUCKING CALLED IT!
Re: nostalgia for VHS tapes and other analog media, I saw someone say like "a VHS tape never sold my information to a nazi" and yes that's true! But the reason it's true is actually because Congress passed a law in 1988 specifically making it illegal for video stores to sell your rental history
That's a whole lot of Oof! =[

there is a privacy apocalypse coming, and the democrats are just as responsible as the republicans.
Seize the means of production.

I hope they at least gave you some of The Good Shit to take home!
the irony of having a one-on-one HR layoff meeting in the conference room with my Loki mural on it
great work everyone keep it up
they are pigs and fascists and they should be reminded of it every day forever
They sell ANDOR action figures, of course, and of course the audience is 35-50-year-olds, but it's deeply funny to imagine children playing with little Luthen Rael and Saw Gerrera dolls.
CHILD 1: I think violence is not only justified, but demanded
CHILD 2: I agree, but haste could be our undoing
Agreed! Pangolin was 100% coerced!
