My goal was 3000 words a day.

For the brief time when I made my living almost entirely from those books, I basically did a 40 hour week.
I wrote all my 100k word warhammer novels in 3 months each because that's the deadline they gave me.
We don't know her actual birthday bc we got her from a tree off the street (true story) but she was about 6 months so we just adopted cal's birthday. Can't believe this little shit is supposed to be a senior cat btw (cats are apparently senior at 7+ but I think maybe applies more to outdoor/strays?)
AHHHHHHH!
I like to say, it isn't "Not In My Back Yard" it's "Not In Anybody's Back Yard."
I know we like to doom post on this site, but as a journalist on these beats, I can’t overstate how GOOD and powerful community activism is rn, especially at halting new and destructive projects like data centers and ICE concentration camps.
No one wants to live next to a hellmouth. There’s hope.
We were there!!!
We were there!!!
I have taken Fountain so many times.
A street sign declaring that I am indeed on Fountain Avenue
"Take Fountain" is still the best way to get somewhere in Hollywood all these decades later, thank you Bette Davis for your eternal wisdom
I just backed Pack of Penguins: The Cutest Game for Family Game Night! on @kickstarter.com I playtested this game and it's great! Fun, cute, and simple!
89 candles would have set off the sprinklers, so we settled for one — and one perfect slice of cake (with @bradtakei.bsky.social on ice cream duty). Thank you to every friend, fan, and fellow traveler who has made these 89 years such a joyous voyage.
Happy Birthday, Luana!!!
Caught Bruce Springsteen's homecoming show in Newark last night, part of a tour designed as a musical cavalcade of protest against the rise of American authoritarianism. I have to say that as a brash and sincere act of dissent, it was one of the most genuinely patriotic things I've witnessed.
two photos in one: young Iggy and older Iggy
Happy birthday to Mr. Osterberg. Raw Power by Iggy and the Stooges was a life changing album for me. It was the first time I heard rock and roll played the way I heard it in my head, and it made me feel a little less alone in the world.
This is so cool!!!!!!!
A director with a camera in a commercial kitchen filming a chef working the grill while an actor and restaurant manager watch
Actor Chris Casamassa dressed as a teriyaki grill cook choreographing a fight scene in a restaurant with two other performers wearing white
Blue smoke from a smoke machine filling a garage
A gray haired guy who is me holding a vintage WMAC masters action figure of the character Red Dragon, standing next to Chris casamassa who played that character
Weird cool day yesterday. @brandxjon.bsky.social started production on a short film I wrote called “Go Gentle” which stars Chris Casamassa who is legit a childhood hero of mine. So I got to watch him play a character I created and even tour my collection and sign my Red Dragon action figure of him.
But no TV series since 1987!!!!
Lili and I just got back from a city council meeting where we supported a "no data center" measure for our area. The city almost slipped the approval for the data center through without anybody noticing, but thankfully they've been stopped.
Yes!
I second The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh, and also:
- The Heroic Trio from Johnny To's movie of the same name
- Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane
- Raffles, the Gentleman Thief
- Irma Vep from the original 1915 Les Vampires
- Steed and Peel
- Molly "Steppin' Razor" Millions from Neuromancer
four teenagers wearing Kiss makeup, lying on the floor with their heads together.
For 50+ years I've been wishing I had photos from the night in 1975 when my friends and I dressed up as Kiss and jammed. And now it turns out that a precious few exist. Thank you to Jeff Stephens, who kept a few of them, and to Scott Newell and the late John Papadakis, who are with in this photo!
FIGHT ME YOU CIVILIZED COWARD
Two hardcover copies of Double-Edged Sword & Sorcery in hardcover, each displaying one of the two distinct novella covers. A big SOLD OUT graphic is sitting over top.
...you're getting your copy or copies.
But being the wee outfit that we are, it's safe to assume for now that reprints are not happening. FWIW we're upping the print run on issues 8-10 in softcover, and ideally Brackenbury Books will continue to grow so that one day 2nd editions can be a thing.
Cover of issue one of New Edge Sword & Sorcery in softcover, with a big SOLD OUT bar across the middle.
🔍After some very careful combing of our storage to be sure, it is confirmed that we have sold out of a softcover issue for the first time, along with the hardcover edition of Double-Edged Sword & Sorcery.📖
If you've pledged for either of these in either of the last two crowdfunds don't worry...
Also, feels important to mention these days that this indie film was made by humans.
happy anniversary to me! Two years ago today my partner (of sixteen years at the time) became my husband (in no small part because health insurance in this country is foundational evil)
We did not set out to have A Funny Number Day! but it does ensure that the date is memorable, at least.
That's a Big Tank!
