Listening to "Us and Them" whilst high >>>>>
It's Rilo Kiley, but I wanna take a second here to shout out this Blink album, and for comparison, I relistened to some of the other pop punk bands that were clearly influenced by Blink around this time (Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, NFG), and the difference in talent is night and fucking day

I keep thinking of that Dan Olson video where he says Doug Walker's artistic ethos was "what if Batman met Mario" and that just describes everyone who does all this garbage

You Shouldn't Watch the Harry Potter Show

Doing 2001 listening and this song reminds me a lot of Accused of Stealing by The Delgados, it fuckin rules
“Frustration with modern dating” feels like an awfully charitable phrasing for what’s motivating these guys
In lieu of a DC, here are some pictures I have taken with this album playing through my headphones
So even though I haven't done a DC on The Glow Pt. 2, it's my favorite album of all time. I've listened to it upwards of a hundred times, it's gotten me through college, through depression, through a global pandemic, through various moves, it's just tremendous on every level.
CONGRATULATIONS
I surprisingly really loved that Mercury Rev album, I was kind of dreading it after the lead singer had a Grandaddy-esque voice on the first track, but with each listen it only grew on me more. Ancient Melodies is good, but nowhere near Built to Spill's best
Dead Lover in Stink-O-Vision is one of the best theatrical experiences I've had all year
Reminder that "the kids" don't talk like this, the Hitler Youth do.
Congratulations!!!!!!
I'll Remind You of Everything: The Films of Mike Mills Criterion boxset coming in July
I am legitimately beaming rn with this announcement
I also want to mention that despite my indie rock fatigue, I'm not feeling nearly as exhausted as during the 1990 tournament where there was so much jangle pop
Didn't like the Pulp album as a whole, but Sunrise might be my new favorite song I've heard for this tournament that I haven't heard before, the gulf of quality between the rest of the album and that was just insane. My vote does go to LSF though, great record by a fun band.
Congratulations mb!!!
Also I hope y'all left out milk and cookies for Richard James last night as it is Avril 14 today
The destruction of all search engines is the tech story of the last decade imo
Is Drukqs the best Aphex record? I would say so, incredible album. Origin of Symmetry is really good too, not as good as Black Holes, but I will say when you're listening to a lot of indie rock in a row, it is a breath of fresh air to listen to something so monumentally goofy.

An agreement that specifies that you can fly a pride flag at stonewall as long as it's not the one that includes trans people being seen as a huge victory feels very on the nose for this year

women were kept out of meetings and career opportunities at Pixar because John Lasseter was so much of a sex pest that people decided it was easier to simply not have them in the room with him
how many talented women didn’t get a fair chance because one guy couldn’t behave himself?
