there's actually one guy named "claude" a hyper competent frenchman given a special cocktail of amphetamines that they keep chained up in a basement in San Francisco. the usage limits are because sometimes he dies and it's necessary to decant a new clone and give him more amphetamines.

There's a new, decent-sized content/balance update to Jacq's Quest. I continue to enjoy playing it myself, and I hope you do too. rule0.com/jacq/
Changelog at github.com/sitnaltax/ja...
bubble tea! love having loads of squashy balls in your mouth? bubble tea! love poking, prodding and squishing balls with your tongue? try a bubble tea!
the sequel will* have a sophisticated crafting system for musical instruments
I ran through with a Celestial build on Expert to verify that it can fundamentally work
@heavydishongry.bsky.social I fixed the preview. As you can see graphic design is my passion
@briellastella.bsky.social The Insight-improving package I settled on:
* Reworked stamina loss to be a higher base, but scale less with depth
* Treasure gain scales with Mystery
* More and improved high-cost items
* Final Ordeal's Trouble scales faster at Hard and Expert
There's a new update for Jacq's Quest available. Featuring daily challenges! Also some rebalancing to make Insight more attractive in the mid-late run. rule0.com/jacq/
Thank you! That's what I was hoping for with them.
Another thing I'm considering now is items that appear only at depth 18+ but are considerably more efficient than ordinary items(like $8 for something a little better than current top-tier items). Will have to try some things out this weekend
Other question: Have you ever tried leaning heavily into Chthonic tokens? When that gets rolling it feels invincible

things I am considering for some update:
1. Scale up treasure rewards around floor 12; add high-tier items (2 redraws + 8 stats, say) at the $18-$20 price point; maybe cheapen tier 3 light sources
2. Whenever Insight fails with less than half the requirement, scale up the final encounter
Another brainstorm is to apply some additional penalty if the insight fails by too much, or for multiple floors in a row. There are a lot of levers but I would like to try to keep it simple
Thanks!
Interesting. I expected this to be a reasonable strategy, but I was hoping it wouldn't be foolproof. The natural thing to try is increasing the treasure rewards, item power, and item cost all together, so you can't ignore Insight totally. That would work but would be touchy 🤔
Heard it in Rocky River; sounded like thunder, with a rolling rumble afterwards
The idea that it is the Democrats' job to be Donald Trump's nanny and clean his dirty diapers every time he soils himself (but never be allowed to impose any real discipline) is nonsense.
The core condition Democrats should have for supporting anything is "impeach and remove."
believe it or not, although the lousy crop was unintentional, the Q's Q thing was kind of intentional. I started with Jack, switched to Jacques because I liked the repetition of "Jacques' Quest', and later shortened to Jacq
They’re telling me a great empire will be destroyed if I attack Persia. Even the oracles who don’t like me very much, very nasty, they all said to me, “Sir, it’s one of the great empires, and it’ll be destroyed. And all because you attacked Persia.” That’s what they’re telling me.
you can tell I'm a super game marketing professional because the preview image looks really good
You can now play a hobby game I've been working on: Jacq's Quest. Inspired by Slay the Spire, Luck be a Landlord, Desktop Dungeons. It's quick and hopefully tickles your brain.
Free, Web-based, just go to the page and play. Either a phone or desktop browser should work fine.
