Not to discount the effects on same sex couples, but this is meant to ban divorce, right? To keep women tied to their abusers permanently?

Depends on the company. And depends on whether it’s public or private. Fiduciary duty and all that.

Sure hope so!

This destroys the vibesession discourse. Will Stancil must be so mad. He spends all this time making sound arguments for a mismatch between economic health indicators and perception, and this guy just says, “I know the economy is good because a bunch of CEOs called me and said that they have money.”

This film is not Oscar bait in any way, but now that Best Casting is a category, the Casting Director of this film will likely be nominated, and definitely should be.

I do think that Board governance was supposed to protect companies from terrible executive decision making, and instead we’ve gotten Boards stacked with sycophants who think their founder/CEO walks on water (see Tesla). So, the system is clearly not working.

Like, this is some real movie magic. I instantly recognized Maya Hawke to be the same character as Amanda Plummer (who is only in the 2nd film!) and I had no expectation that character would even be in this film. And there are a half dozen more examples just like this one.

I saw the trailer for the new Hunger Games movie. I knew nothing about it at all, but I’ve seen the first three movies. Just from the trailer, I could tell it was set 25 years before the first film, and I could identify every single character they showed. The casting and costuming are astounding!

Are you saying that in 5 years, there won’t be companies anymore? Or that in 5 years, the people who lead those companies will hide the fact that their job is leading a company? Or something else? Genuinely asking.

Literally every item on the Taco Bell menu that contains beef can be ordered with black beans instead. Taco Bell is the number one fast food for vegetarians, so it’s not the best example for saying that people have to eat beef (and I do eat beef, so I have no skin in this game).

Are there really more democrats in Florida than New York now? I know it’s true for Texas, which had a much bigger population, but Florida and New York are so close in size, has Florida gotten big enough in the past few years that the difference is enough for there to be more dems than in NY finally?

The United states’s legacy in the world is not uncomplicated but nothing highlights the good we have done in the world than that Musk and Trump could condemn millions to death by just stopping doing it.

This is a great example of what democrats in congress can actually do right now. Similar to Wyden telling Bondi that he’ll see her at Nuremberg 2. Publicly stating that once they take back power there will be consequences for these crimes is genuinely helpful.

One of the fascinating aspects of Trump 2.0 has been the way the media elites who engineered his 2024 victory by, basically, **lying** about his plans and fitness for office, seemed to expect that the **reality** of Trump 2.0 would be broadly popular.

I also think that’s most likely. Swalwell and Hilton advance, and then Swalwell wins in November. But the fact that the dems being shut out remains a very real possibility is extremely concerning. It’s better that people recognize the danger now and work to prevent it.

There’s no way he’ll win. But if he and Hilton are the top two in the primary, Hilton will win and CA will have a republican governor.

It’s a jungle primary.

It’s a jungle primary, so the top two vote getters, regardless of party, move on to the general. If dem voters split their votes too much, the only options in November will be two republicans.

Will say it till my head falls off: There is no safe level of exposure to content on X. No one is immune from its effects.

One day you're a paragon of progressive thought leadership, the next you're telling readers, "Tucker Carlson is one of the most talented figures in all political media."

I think Brindlewood Bay does this. It tells you upfront that there is no pre-written answer to the mystery, and the players have to create the answer themselves during game play. So, anyone who wants to play through a story created for them knows that it won’t be a good fit.

Susan Collins called the cops because of sidewalk chalk. The woman behind it is running for US Senate. Bangor resident Andrea LaFlamme is publicly identifying herself as the sidewalk chalker as she mounts a longshot campaign for US Senate.

For those who may not know, yes I am the person who chalked on the sidewalk in front of Susan Collins’ house. Not only did she call the police to erase my work (violating my 1st am right), but she’s since moved to a house without a sidewalk. She’s already made it clear that she’s intimidated by me.

There’s no mechanism for the American people to remove a President other than violent uprising. There’s a mechanism for the Senate to remove a President, but the Senate is inherently undemocratic and controlled by conservatives by design. We are, naturally, reluctant to do a violent uprising.

I think she’s looking for people to put Murphy into leadership, and she endorsed Plattner because Murphy couldn’t without the toxic Nazi stink rubbing off on him. But they believe that they’ll need his vote and that they’ll have it.

It does not make me happy! I still can never support a politician with a Nazi tattoo!

The thread that Katiesaurus linked has so much evidence. It’s a really great explanation, and much more comprehensive than my post. If that’s not sufficient for you, then I have to assume you have other motivations for wanting to share Track AIPAC’s content.

The theory is that this is the reason why Warren endorsed the Nazi tattoo guy. Because he’ll vote against Schumer, and because it’s not going to be Warren in the role, so she can draw everyone’s ire. Murphy can’t do the endorsement himself. I don’t like it, but at least it’s not completely dumb.
