True. I am still trying to figure out though what the factor of productivity gain might potentially be with the right tooling (so more parallel work can be done). And not for prototypes but real projects 🧐currently testing spec-kit, I really like it! What do you use for specs / context?

Links, Resources, and Humans of Note - Infrequently Noted Alex Russell on browsers, standards, and the process of progress.

Just published a new section on my site to capture references to a lot of the essential web performance and fundamentals-oriented webdev resources I find myself continually directing folks to. Also, lots and lots of links to blogs I love:

(Decentralized) open social networks seem to really get traction from developers now. One of the dominating topics during the Hackathoern at GWDG in Göttingen. But this time more focused on #nostr than #atproto

😂😂 it might also still contain errors, especially around labelers and the plc directory. But it’s a start 🙂

After today's session, I created a simplified atproto diagram just for me. Maybe it's useful to somebody. Feel free to comment if you spot errors. Getting the arrows right is the hardest part 😂

GitLab 17.8 - Protected container repositories YouTube video by GitLab

It was awesome working with Fernando Diaz on this demo showcasing GitLab's protected container registry feature available in GitLab v17.8. It's interesting to see how prominent they included the sub-issue feature, the button is really hard to miss and just wants to be clicked 🧐. Wonder if this is just for introduction or this will stay.

Prototype Fund - Wir fördern Public Interest Tech. Der Prototype Fund unterstützt Entwickler*innen dabei, ihre Open-Source-Software mit gesellschaftlichem Mehrwert zu entwickeln.

I would be generally interested in helping with dev and think something like this is important. I guess the Idea could be fundable by some European / German open source sponsorship? There are a few but often only available for people not companies (at least the prototype fund prototypefund.de).

Slow CI-Pipelines can be a real productivity killer. Waiting endlessly for e.g. test feedback especially in large projects is a common problem. We had a a look at GitLab and wrote together a few best practices based on a concrete example, how to fix slow running tests: b310.de/blog/gitlab-...
