Academic economists, on the take from landlords and anti-left crusaders, deliberately conflated land with capital in the early 20th Century to write Georgism out of history and economics

With some help from the automobile and the USSR elevating Marxism as the “system”‘s enemy, it basically worked

Yeah Texas decided to get pretty aggressive and basically count the RGV as a purchase instead of a lease. Florida will be interesting to watch to see if there is an attempted redistricting there

The dummymander risk is primarily the Texas redistricting. They drew maps in Texas based off 2024 voting where there was a large swing with Hispanic voters and based their maps around that. Other Republican states may redistrict and there is a risk of VRA basically being thrown out by SCOTUS

Do you subscribe to any of the draft conspiracies or mostly stuff with refs?

I didn’t realize he had ran in the primary for governor in 2015. He definitely makes sense as who the state legislature should want. He can just make TV appearances and not mess with them

Just visually the narrowness of that one second from the top throws that row off to me

20 hours ago 1 0 0 0

As it’s set up but flipping the first and second from the top in the row on the left I think would visually work better

Frozen envelope has been dug into so much that it’s a great theory but I struggle to buy it being rigged more than the more modern rigged lottery theories

this is a silly tangent to the actual point david is making but I always thought a cool idea was for high level basketball to have a "height cap" — each team would be limited in terms of how much *combined* height they could have on the floor at once.

Not exactly shocked by that but there are pros and cons to how most of the House members from Kentucky have kept exceptionally low profiles

Yeah the bottom end of the market for dress shoes are terrible and the most awful style of men’s shoe to walk in. Finding a decent pair really feels like a weight off your shoulders

It’s interesting seeing how Barr has been a multi term incumbent in a seat that includes Lexington and when he entered the race a lot of people still didn’t know who he was

That should be blamed on the consumer. There definitely are comfortable men’s dress shoes but a lot of shoppers just go to one store, try on a couple pairs and go about their life
