Electrification?? I would rather see money used as subsidies toward this than for fuel payments

Land use change, as advocated. You need people that work the land to make a brave/conscious decision to step away from the norm - recognising their land has benefited at expense of downstream areas. Money to make it happen faster. Perhaps something akin to parametric insurance, or subsidy

This is my area of speciality (28+ years). We know the solutions. But for Ireland we must first solve this:

"Culture eats strategy for breakfast"
"I don't think so. I'd have to dispute that very much"
"Blocking the water is not going to solve the problem, it's going to create a bigger problem"

World Wetlands Day is as good a time as any to reflect on the fact that numerous global assessments have identified Ireland as having the worst record in the world for the percentage of wetlands lost.

This is why you should not eat nuts on a plane. A friends child went into anaphylaxis because of it.

Hi everyone, after the success of the City To Casino stroll, I was kicking around the idea of running the Point To Pinnacle because I needed a goal to keep me feeling ok. Unfortunately, my glioblastoma kicked off in a new spot and made that unfeasible. However, while my running days are over

Speaking of generous souls, covid lockdown in Tasmania started a couple of months after we moved into our current space and things were going quite well but then obviously it dropped off a cliff. Our cat got run over just after it started so it was a fairly grim period.

1. Hello everyone, Happy New Year. I’m back from a lovely time, though now stricken by a nasty bug.
Right, back to it:
In my catch-up reading, there are several articles about the “collapse of democracy”. Was 2024 the year in which it began to die? But NONE of them seeks to define democracy. 🧵

If we were *really* serious about tackling nature collapse in Ireland (a very big if, I know), what would we be doing?

A thread...🧵

Theres a Venn diagram here with the idea of @rushkoff.bsky.social to harness AI (which is just a model!) to just filter out the crap. Offsetting is yet another bullshit human construct that is not at all constructive

Surely a better approach would have been to spend 12+ months talking about the voice, selling the good points, debunking the crap. Get this current muck out of the way before even setting a date for the referendum. Improve the likelihood of it succeeding. Talk first, vote later
