Another great read. @edzitron.com Curious to see how you think Gemini does at summarizing your points and rating their strength!

Coding agents are particularly skillful at deploying, tracking down deployment errors and parsing logging for cloud services. Some of the real development drudge work. Saves countless hours and a positive mood enhancer!

requiring a lot of letting go. We know people will build aesthetically unpleasing and amoral things with any new tool. I've been very slow to adopt and each day gets closer to an accessible/interactive web to me with lots of promise. 2/2

Did you read it all @anildash.com? This is not a criticism per se but the piece is sort of out of time -- a review rooted in the Blogger Era. I started on the web with Notepad.exe. The tools Date.now() are very punk rock to me. There are no rules and very few visible boundaries 1/2

As far as I can tell Gemini CLI gives 1000 requests/day free and moves up from there. Claude Code ($20/mo) can probably scratch out 100/day.

Cursor ($20/mo) with google or anthropic model is ~550 per MONTH!

Seems like Google wins this hands down with aggressive pricing. Am I missing something?

Ed, I enjoy your work a lot but the reason I don't subscribe is the length. So 17k is a big detractor. Just a data point for you. I mean the early Wired features were epic 10-15k pieces. I'd be much more interested in 2-4k with painstaking rigor and context.

@carlquintanilla.bsky.social - hope you are well! I for one appreciate the cultural work you've been logging for more than a decade! Makes social still a place worth visiting from time to time. πŸ™

Why does anyone think this deal will close. China has every incentive to string it along and then kill it.

Here is ChatGPT showing what the monthly revenue growth would look like. It is based on pure fantasy. There are no products that drive this revenue. Same level of nonsense as "Musk Says He Wants To Send Rocket To Mars Next Year, With Human Missions As Soon As 2029"
