Birthright citizenship is a fundamental, constitutional guarantee.
We went to the Supreme Court to preserve the promise of the 14th Amendment.
The First Amendment is fundamental to our democracy, whether or not President Trump likes it. We will defend it with everything we've got.
If these arrests continued at this pace, the number of parents in detention will have doubled by now.
ICE must stop ripping families apart — tell Congress at the link in our bio to rein in ICE's abuses.
For more than a century, the Supreme Court has affirmed the 14th Amendment right that guarantees children born in the United States are citizens.
The Supreme Court must not cower to the president’s will and must, once again, affirm that all children born in the USA are Americans.
On this Trans Day of Visibility, we celebrate all of our trans community members.
Visibility matters. And so does action to support transgender people. We'll never stop fighting to make New Mexico a place where ALL OF US belong.
New Mexico won't back down in the face of the Trump administration's authoritarian overreach.

We must do everything in our power at the state, county, and city levels to prevent other people in New Mexico from ending up in a dangerous detention facility like the one where Kesley lost his life.
Policies that provide clarity and stability for immigrant families are not only about values, but they're also about economic strength.

This bill:
• Requires the parole board to base parole decisions on meaningful evidence, like rehabilitative efforts.
• Prohibits scheduling hearings on victim anniversaries, which can cause emotional strain for victims and families.
• Clarifies reimbursement for parole board members.
With the signing of this bill, New Mexico just enacted the first substantive updates to New Mexico’s parole board procedures since 1980.
The work ahead is real, but so is the momentum. And together, we’re building a New Mexico where every person’s rights and freedoms are truly protected.

🎉 VICTORY! The Parole Board Modernization Act (SB 43) passed its final vote last night and is on its way to the governor.
This is a huge step toward a fairer, more effective parole system.
Check out the slides to see why this matters.
This legislation establishes New Mexico’s first statewide regulations for Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) data, ensuring that location information isn't weaponized against residents for seeking legal healthcare, exercising constitutional rights, or for federal immigration enforcement.
Law enforcement in New Mexico will continue to be able to use ALPRs and share data for all other purposes. State and local law enforcement agencies have expressed support for the bill in committee hearings, acknowledging the need for privacy guardrails.
Under SB 40, ALPR users in New Mexico may not share data with out-of-state third parties unless they first receive an affirmation that the data will not be used to prosecute healthcare activity that is legal in New Mexico, enforce immigration laws, or target activity protected under the Constitution
Tell lawmakers to pass the Driver Privacy and Safety Act: action.aclu.org/send-message...
Cameras track the movements of every driver in New Mexico, creating a massive, unregulated record of our private lives. When that data is shared with out‑of‑state or federal agencies without guardrails, the risks are enormous.
New Mexico has already shown that it can lead on youth justice. We made a conscious choice to move away from the failed policies of the past and toward approaches grounded in evidence, compassion, and common sense. We shouldn’t go backwards now. Read the full post: www.aclu-nm.org/news/dont-tu...
