No matter where someone was born, the United States should never tolerate inhumane treatment. Yet right now, detainees in ICE custody are facing conditions that are simply unacceptable in any country that claims to uphold human rights, let alone one that prides itself on freedom and the rule of law.

This is a blockprint, rectangular in shape. On the edges of the print are migratory animals such as the blue whale, butterflies, and hummingbirds. There are also resilient plants such as the agave, sunflower, and dandelion. At the top left is the edge of a wall I based on the border wall between the US and Mexico. In the middle of the print is an arched portion with two figures on top and writing below them. Both figures are styled like medieval manuscripts and have halos. One figure is handing the other a carton of water. The words below read Jesus never said Deport your neighbor.

Horizontal image. In the center, international human rights, 1992 Nobel Peace Prize winner and Guatemalan indigenous activist Rigoberta Menchú Tum faces us with a determined look, arms crossed, dressed in colorful red and green indigenous patterns. She is in front of a crowd of people and behind yellow caution tape forming a large “x.” “Only together can we move forward, so that there is light & hope for all women on the planet.”— Rigoberta Menchú Tum Photo by Johan Ordonez, @johanordonez

I understand completely. ❤️
Would anyone be interested in a Creative Work group? Like we’d meet over zoom once a month to share what we’ve been working on, set goals, support one another, ask for critiques if we want them, and just generally build a creative community? I’d be down for setting one up if people want to join.

Picture of a pencil sketch on a piece of ivory paper. The sketch is based on medieval illustrated manuscripts. Two figures are in the middle of the page, one figure is giving the other a milk carton filled with water. There is an agave between them at their feet and the sun above. Outside of their area is a border of resilient plants like dandelions, yucca, and sunflowers, as well as migratory animals like the grey whale, monarch butterfly, and hummingbird. A tiny yucca moth is next to the yucca flower. Under the figures are the words: Jesus never said Deport your neighbors.
Working on this print. Still in the sketching part but I think the words bear repeating. Jesus never said Deport your neighbors. #printmaker #printmaking #artisresistence #printintheworks

Want a practical introduction for how to do street art? Not that you would, of course. Merely an academic pursuit! All purely theoretical 🧐
Get up to speed on precisely how to theoretically make stickers & wheatpastes.

I’d love one!
I don’t usually dampen my paper but I don’t usually use the thick stuff. Just here to say OMG what a gorgeous print. Love it.

The image of a print that had been carved out of grey rubber like material is placed on a desk with an accompanying cup of tea. The print is of a moving truck of mystical abilities, holding an assortment of figures, a cat, furniture and more on the back of the truck.
Prints are best made while watching weird tv shows and drinking tea. It is known. #printmaker #printmaking
I love the close up
I love seeing quail in the wild. Their little head feather caps are ridiculous. Cute print!
So cool
Add me please? :)
Picture is of a corner of a relief print, in which the image is carved into a surface. This image shows a figure sitting on a bookcase that is turned onto its side, which is on top of a door and other wood pieces. The figure is looking to the left, their two long braids flowing out as if caught in the wind.
Just a corner of my latest print in the works. #printmaking #printmaker #linocut
