Disappointed, though not surprised, I began to describe various life- saving components of USAID’s global health portfolio, highlighting how we prepare for and respond to emerging pandemic threats; support the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis, malaria, and HIV; and immunize millions of children from the deadliest childhood diseases. I spoke for about five minutes, focusing primarily on our infectious diseases work and hoping to keep the attention of people who seemed to have no experience—or interest—in global health.

When I finished, the room was silent, the political appointees looking at one another in what appeared to be disbelief. The silence was broken by Ken Jackson, who chuckled softly and shook his head. “Wow, there really is so much that USAID does that we never knew,” he said. “This is the story that needs to get out there.”

Joel, also smiling, chimed in next, echoing Jackson’s amazement. “I had no idea you did all this,” he said. “As a Republican, when I think of what USAID does in global health, I assumed it was just, you know, abortions.”

142! Luke also follows Mark, although he describes the rebels as common criminals, one of whom defends Jesus, who in turn promises that he (Jesus) and the criminal will be together in paradise.

Uh oh! It looks like Jesus is also SOFT on CRIME

Lomography lets you filter by camera or lens or film stock and that can be fun to get a sense of who a film looks like

I am good with it, I may regret that in the future but it’s a gamble. You can pay to mail the negatives back but you might want to see if there is a local film place to use instead

Ah yes, nothing like a dummy roll! I had some light leaks with a prior camera and those are no fun!

Does it use old Mercury batteries? I found the Wein zinc air cells work really well at giving the same voltage

What kind of camera do you have? I know also that Lomography sells some sort of home development and scanning rig but i prefer to pay other people to artfully develop my film

"Heartwarming: When this grandma couldn't afford her husband's cancer treatments the President used her for a photo-op" is a freakin Clickhole headline.

Reformed Film Lab isn’t the only source for sure, but I’ve been enjoying getting films from them to shoot and develop. Main challenge with weird film types is to see if your camera allows you to set ISO or uses automated DX coding since indie films don’t always have them

Lightme - Logbook App - App Store Download Lightme - Logbook by Giuseppe Bertolini on the App Store. See screenshots, ratings and reviews, user tips, and more apps like Lightme - Logbook.

One other thing I use is Lightme Logbook to track the metadata for each shot and then update the scans after apps.apple.com/us/app/light...

Ah, I wind up using Reformed Film Lab but there are other services around the country too. Generally you pay for the type of film + scan size. It’s more if you want prints or your negatives back. But that color scan was $15 + $7 to mail there and it took about 5+5 days to get there by mail/develop

Scale down the costs obviously but this same thing happens in Takoma Park, as I (kinda sorta) wrote about several years ago now ggwash.org/view/80202/h...

@hels.bsky.social through an indirect way (I was at the Warner Theater for an event and I remembered when you were there), I wound up mentioning how people believed you were the Editor-in-Chief of Caftan Magazine (the fashionably hip magazine for the modern person who’s beyond being cool)
