a photograph top down of Glatisant laying open to its center spread showing prompts for the Jack, Queen, King and Ace of hearts as well as an illustration of the Green Knight, who appears in the Jack of hearts prompt. The knight is on a horse but is holding its own head in an outstretched arm.
Glatisant is a nominee for Best Rules for IGDNs Groundbreakers Awards!
When designing this asymmetrical two player game we really wanted the Knight to feel like they were chasing, and the Beast to feel like they were leading.
You can read about the rules in a few places:
May your curtains be thick in the summer, and your sun lamp powerful in the winter.
My biggest pet peeve. Fking trap options. 'lol your pc sucks because you don't have system mastery' 🥴
Oh shit, that's 2a. My heart just stopped in my chest and I am dead. I bet the photography opportunities up there are s tier though.
But having a local social network is so fking nice, I hope it's a good change for you. 🖤
ALASKA WHY? I see here you don't know. I'm going to need you to sit with that.
--fuuu, I just looked up the USDA zone of Anchorage and it's the same as my city. The coastal part is actually WARMER. 😭
That sounded dismissive, which wasn't what I meant. I meant I hope you keep trying cool shit, progressively weirder shit, and also move to PA.
Just sounds like you haven't found your THING yet. There's a shitload of things out there, don't give up.
The sheer VOLUME of THINGS I try for exactly 5 minutes before I decide I am not having fun.
I have a stack of books I rounded up on Ebay on making Chinese kites on my desk -rn-.
Nailed it. 🖤

I remind myself I don't owe every waking moment of my life to capitalism as long as the bills get paid, or mostly paid, like a mantra.
My enjoyment is never pointless, while I am stuck on this shit planet I am going to do things just because I want to, because it'll be a good time, or because I want the thing.
Now, if we're obsessing over whether something is commercially viable because of said shit planet, that's a little dif.
This is a thing I finished the draft of today. 🥳 I'm just going to side-eye it over the weekend before I send it along, because I like to compulsively stew on things after I think they're done, just for a little while. As a treat.
Glib, but I like it.
Miss me with realism and balance.
I'm here for fantasy.
The scream I screamt when I read the rules to Blades in the Dark for the first time and then asked Shawn if I could put points in Wreck (instead of Skirmish) and make a knockaround whose favored weapon is a chair across the teeth.
If you want to be Agrippa come again, ball out.
This probably stems from trauma. I have always felt personally attacked by how D&D treats whips. "Oh, you have a class fantasy? That's cool. Here's a thing that is sub-optimal for you. Enjoy."
I adore systems like LUMEN's; all weapons are viable and do the same damage, just at expected ranges and with various secondary uses to differentiate them (tags), because you're playing an S tier badass and it's assumed you know how to use your weapon to devastating effect.
I realized somewhere along the way, I don't particularly like games with an emphasis on the author's idea of how weapons work 'realistically'.
Honestly?
Fair.
I keep seeing it, and it just makes me want the content more.
Finally a bunch of proofs that actually justified their astronomical cost. Big production run is ordered, now we try to forget the small fortune we just spent on printing by going out for celebratory coffee!
Yay!
Treasures have arrived!
I need everyone to mark this day on the calendar.
My proofs all came back perfect. I don't have to change shit. No second, third, ten-thousandth try. Just hit print.
I really thought that wrap-around cover was going to end me.
I'm going out for celebratory coffee.
Y'all. I know for a fact that you want to see weird little guys and learn how to use them to filter water, power your survival radio, lay down scent barriers to keep predators at bay, and parasail across a tide pool planet.
This is going to be so good.
painting of lich on throne, with animating skeletons, treasure pile, staff glowing purple
Uploaded this painting today to my top tier patrons! As I don't have many subscribers, I'm posting here as a means to advertise. Really need to grow that
Gouache, watercolor on paper, about 25 hrs.
Plan to upload 1 of these style 6x9 paintings a month. The size lets it be a cover or full page illo.
The brilliance of the Traveller 5E campaign is that it’s engineered to take advantage of the K-shaped economy. We’re going to see more and more of this—games made to appeal to a tiny, wealthy slice of the market. That’s how the whole economy has been for awhile, and now it’s here for TTRPGs.
MID CAMPAIGN ADDITIONS - WHAT IF WE JUST DESCRIBE DIE DIE: it’s like Jumanji for nerds. It’s Gygaxian Isekai. It’s Portal Fantasy with HP. Get in here. Sure, you can roll Reflex to take half damage from a fireball. Try doing that to the emotional splash-damage of your parents’ divorce Life never worked out the way you wanted it to. Now you’re trapped in a fantasy kingdom, and life still isn’t working out, but at least you’re a catgirl now Is It Wrong To Try To Process My Emotional Trauma In A Dungeon? (Yes. You should have gone to therapy. But now you’re trapped in a magical kingdom, it’s the only option you’ve got) Boyfriend Dungeon taught us we could love the dungeon. Dungeon Meshi taught us we could eat it. Now: what if the dungeon was a thinly-veiled metaphor for your strained relationship with your dad? You’re thirty-seven years old. Your job sucks. Your wife just left you. And you’re trapped in an interdimensional fantasy realm forged of your own dreams and fears, which really is the icing on the cake Maybe things weren’t better back in the day; maybe you were just younger. DIE takes the gentle, reassuring confection of nostalgia and reduces it to a bubbling heap with the oxy-acetalene torch of postmodernism THOSE JACKALS AT WIZARDS OF THE COAST ALREADY HAVE ENOUGH OF YOUR MONEY. Give US your money instead in exchange for the DIE Metadungeon If you only play one TTRPG this year, you should probably try Realis. It looks great. But if you play two TTRPGs this year, one of them should definitely be DIE DIE the RPG finally endorses your relentless obsession with dice by making them diegetic. And if you need us to explain what “diegetic” means, you probably wouldn’t enjoy the game anyway How many dice do you reckon you could fit in your mouth? Normal-sized ones, I mean. Six-siders. I think I could get about twenty five in there before I started choking
let's see how many of these blurbs for DIE RPG Backerkit will let through their quality control net
I had the pleasure of chatting with Momo from @heartofthedeernicorn.com about designing What Should We Have Tomorrow? and Ithaca in the Cards: Second Expedition, and teased the premise of Infinite Seas Under the Same Stars. Check out the full interview here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0XA...
