I read the first one lounging in the beach this afternoon. So so good! Such a warm, pleasant delight of character and mood.
Responding to Trump’s blathering about Gaza with “it’s bad because we don’t want overseas military involvement” is, in this context, both entirely correct and so so so very beside the point. Like saying “don’t murder that woman…it’s just impossible to get blood out of that white couch.” Close, but…
Makes it a White House office, nominally. Not an agency, which implies created by Congress, leader senate confirmed, etc.
I’ve been feeling this way a lot lately
Absolutely agree. Can’t imagine how much good will and action would be generated by every Senate dem holding a joint press conference to say essentially the threat to democracy is here. We will be opposing all Trump efforts and here is what you should do…
I agree that 2 is really confusing. Screaming about Trump in a reasonably coordinated manner seemed to have brought much electoral success when Dems were out of power.
Hope you feel better soon!
So #classaction #lawyers, my dude Elon Musk is not a part of the government and thus is not immune to civil lawsuit in his individual capacity. But intimately involved in acts likely to cost a lot of federal workers their livelihoods. So, cause of action? Bet the discovery would be interesting.
An entire country doomed by billionaires.
That’s a fair counterpoint and I used the term in a more colloquial and much less accurate sense. I just see the actions of this administration as destructive of the entire idea of liberal, small l, government. They are just trying to break it and leave nothing left.
That is fair. And I agree that dismantle is a much too order-bound term. I keep thinking of gremlins in the machine, just breaking whatever they can reach. Destroy seems to conclusive, though. Shatter, maybe?
I mean, for one thing, what they’re describing isn’t particularly fascistic. If anything it’s more anarchic. Or just chaotic and short sighted. Really more Cruel and incompetent the fascist.
It’s unrealistic to expect a newspaper to call this fascist. It should be appreciated that they are at least giving people the concentrated reporting necessary to evaluate the chaos.
So, a lot of critique on here for this headline, but it struck me a lot differently. At least @bostonglobe.com is trying to explain the scope of what’s happening. At least they’re calling attention to it like the emergency it is. Everywhere else is just scattered and breathless.
This op-ed by Perry Bacon Jr draws some meaning from the chaos. I have been thinking a lot about culture and how culture shifts and in my life I’ve really only seen American culture become more tolerant. I’m not looking forward to witnessing the alternative. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...
That ass is absolutely epic, and you’re pretty cute, too. Thanks for sharing!
A solid contribution to the genre!
Time to indulge in the ol’ Hurkle Durkle?
As they shutter offices, stop investigations, fire and reassign experts, it is important to acknowledge that what was warned is now so. The gremlins own the machine, cancer has custody of the body, and four years is a very long time. I don’t know what will be left but it won’t be what it was.
Cute!
That does appear to be largely a fair point.
Just seems to me that there is a lot more entirely concrete actual policies that we should be spending time on. Did you read that fucking birthright citizenship order? That’s the real nazi bullshit!
I really worry about the intensely different energy this time. Last time he and his people didn’t know what they were doing AND there was so much energy in opposition. This time, they prepared, and everyone else just seems resigned or exhausted, and that’s excluding the oligarchs jumping on board.
Four strips of bacon
Diggin’ on swine while its brethren gets inaugurated.
Fantastic. That last one looks like a helluva party!
Love that top right one. Beautiful lines.
Yeah.
