I really liked Nick's take on Scott here, and it really makes sense to me as someone who is autistic and can be very black-and-white in my thinking about how certain ethical issues should be approached.

I really hope that’s not the case, but I wouldn’t be shocked if that was.

So, you propose that Dems cede power permanently, out of the belief that… what? The fascists will see their nobility and change their ways?

putting my old bargaining hat on to say that if you're in a unionized newsroom, this absolutely does NOT fall under status quo and should be prone to bargaining.

if you're a freelance journalist, make sure your contract reserves the right to pull your byline. They'll fight, but you have the right.

Wolverine was the easy call for that kind of role, but I don’t think he would have worked or been super interesting in it. Storm would have worked great, but I wonder if they were leery about making their only prominent Black female character into a terrorist like that? Cyclops was perfect for it.

I've seen so many people who I love and respect on here regurgitating that 62 million number and it is driving me up a wall.

Trust me on this: You do not want to contribute heat to a gender essentialist anti-porn panic. The actual, real story is horrifying. Lying does it a disservice.

over on threads, this has lead to people promoting a website called "name him," where you can anonymously "name your rapist," which no one seems to realize is a horrible fucking idea. this site also requires you to register with your email before using it, adding more layers to the bad idea.

the Boots Riley discourse on twitter isn't going far enough imo. if you're actually a leftist, you shouldn't even be *watching* movies and television. the only way to actually be a Marxist is to live in a big tank like a guild navigator in Dune so that you can spend 24 hours a day posting

Yeah, it felt like that was happening with a lot of books. I kind of fell out with a lot of Marvel books in the 2010s, so there's a ton of stuff I missed from that era because of some of that weird pacing/storytelling (and because public libraries weren't stocking all these trades yet!)

Maybe I'll check out some of those stories once my Krakoa readthrough. I remember liking the Young X-Men thing but falling off it pretty fast.

Regardless of the corrupt deal Ginther, Hardin, City Council and Franklin County Commissioners have made with the Haslam Sports Group for a NWSL franchise, you can still show your support for the residents of Franklinton and users of McCoy Park. Please share freely.

I appreciate the interpretation of Cyclops as neurodivergent/autistic coded. Hyper focused and brilliant about details and organization, bad at social cues, and a passionately binary of right and wrong; which is what pushed him to where he was after AvX.

I think that's part of what has driven him to become a more interesting character too: The situations he's in are more complex, causing that binary right/wrong to put him in much more challenging positions. I really like your reading on him!

You know, he had a rough few years in the 2010s, but I think he ended up in a healthier place because of it all. But good to have a real X-pert chime in on when Scott's arc really began!

A Letterboxd review of Back to the Future (1985)

... so when Biff says he's gonna take $300 "out of [Marty's] ass," what exactly did he mean there?

Ahead of the debut, we go behind the scenes of 'Songs in Sign Language,' where Deaf artists and animators collaborated to reshape timing, acting, and expression.

Yeah, Angel got a similar treatment, though that one has had a harder time sticking. I think because Angel's was done TO him, while Cyclops' was part of his character? But yeah, it was a similar attempt with both characters.

I feel like that entire movie was wiped from my brain immediately after leaving the theater. Once I finish my MCU rewatch, maybe I'll do a complete X-Men rewatch next.
