Congrats! "PhD Defense Day" is something very special. Mine was in March 2012 and I can still remember it clearly. 🧫🧬🧪

mRNA vaccines hold promise for creating new and improved immunizations, but their delivery is challenging. A Comment article in Nature Reviews Bioengineering proposes an edible mRNA vaccine platform using lettuce chloroplasts. go.nature.com/4lBJiF5 🔒

I even sequenced the DNA of my magic mushrooms back in 2012.... I know it sounds like a joke. But here's a screenshot of part of the sequence.... 😅

Worked for me. I even turned it into a PhD in biochemistry. They called me "highly motivated". Which was true.

I have a PhD in biochemistry/cell biology... The stuff I've heard during the Corona pandemic made me question the very fabric that holds our society together. So much stupidity. So much distrust towards science & medicine. And it goes on.

Yes. This is it. My all-time Simpsons favourite. It feels like someone analyzed my darkest sense of humor and then came up with this "personalized" scene.

Ergot alkaloids... They will always remain interesting! Lucky me has a signed book "Die Mutterkornalkaloide" by Albert Hofmann on the bookshelf.

This reminds me of the year 2007 when I spent so many hours in the cold room to isolate chromoplasts & chloroplasts from ripening bell peppers to analyze the changing proteome by tandem mass spectrometry. 👍

Direct air capture of CO2 for solar fuel production in flow - Nature Energy Photocatalytic conversion of CO2 typically uses concentrated feeds, hindering the direct conversion of ambient CO2 to value-added products. Kar et al. report a flow reactor that produces syngas (a mixture of CO and H2) through on-site utilization of air-captured CO2 using light.

It looks like the company has gone out of business without any notice and the BloomSky brand has recently been bought by Nubila. Very weird story. First I lost the timelapses and the online dashboard, but images were always updated. No idea.

Yes. But my BloomSky has been working for years now without a significant interruption in Ticino (Switzerland). I use it with the Iphone app.
