assumed for a sec this was a bsky downtime post and nodded sagely
every time i see the take "bluesky is down because they used AI" i replace "used AI" with "verified jerry" and it works just as well. 100% cause and effect
Bluesky down, Blacksky up, nice job @rude1.blacksky.team and team
Looks like Streamplace still relies on one Bluesky endpoint in the login flow, annoying, will get on that today
I think you can implement this with an online PDS/offline PDS kind of model. The online one handles relay connections and service proxying. The offline PDS does signing and mutations, pushing changes to the online PDS
It also promotes power users into sysadmins. Maybe you don't have a PDS, but somebody in your house does. Your power goes out? You DM your cousin and migrate over to that one. No cloud, no megacorporation value capture. Just data on a hard drive on a desk.
Oh yeah and it's also a really smart robot, that should go without saying.
Personal Data Stuffie!
You wouldn't need to fully self-host an internet-accessible server; you can also have a mirror in the cloud that does that for you. But the signing and the canonical data repository is yours. Here's the proof: it's sitting there on your desk.
They can visualize what it means now. People get crypto a lot faster after you hand them a hardware wallet. "This is the place that your money is."
"This is my PDS, here in my hand. It's where my data lives. You can also have one in the cloud, or hosted by a variety of different providers. But mine is this pink cube."
@case.bsky.social calm PDS?
The single best thing you could do to make atproto accessible to the general public is sell really good physical PDSses
yeah i think so
Thanks for not antispamming me for this one Bluesky. We had two surplus graphemes after linking all of these!
you can now stream the @stream.place VOD JAM ceremony 👀
sad i missed the stream, but funny seeing that everyone seemed to enjoy my iCarly-inspired client :P

oh yeah thanks for the reminder, i'll do that now
And make dedicated apps for doing jams! I had the jam jam thought too
stavola.xyz: wow this is like the perfect amount of entrants
Chat badges have now been awarded to all VOD JAM participants! Equip them in our new badge settings page: stream.place/settings/acc...
Congratulations to all of the entrants:
I realized after posting I should have done right presses but I think these are in fact the up thing

screenshot of "place.stream.authfull" with an include tag next to it showing "Full Streamplace Acess - Full Access to all Streamplace features and data" and a bunch of permissions inside represented as colorful tiles
updated wctd to support resolving included permission sets, so you can actually click on them to see what's inside
caveat: CORS is still a pain in the butt, but i think it shouldn't be an issue for a lot of these bc pdses are more permissive than regular websites usually
come to think of it, betcha the existence of the sherlocked google calendar book-a-meeting feature has a lot more to do with cal.com becoming closed-source than claude
