An illustrated watercolor-like poster showing different types of seals!
a soirée of seals!! ✨🦭🌊
new poster done just in time for Illo Mart this weekend!! I had fun looking up so many different species 🥹💙 blobs of the sea… #art
It's still a work in progress with several kinks and wobbles to iron out, but I'm close to acheiving a fully dynamic wing membrane for my Pterosaur rig.
No shape keys or parts swapping here, all cloth simulation plus laplacian smoothing.
Joermungandr bolti, Carboniferous 'amphibian' from Mazon creek. #sciart
Had the pleasure of making a sculpture of Sue the Tyrannosaurus rex for SHOWANNA Studio. 🦖
Pretty pleased with how this one turned out, I got to nerd out on all of her unique pathologies. The old girl lived a hard life!
@franzanth.bsky.social you may already be aware of the existence of this, but I felt like it needed to be brought to your attention if not: store.steampowered.com/app/2053910/...
Geology and palaeobiology at the University of Leicester are under threat, with at least 14 staff expected to be made redundant. Support them, their postdocs, and their students by signing this petition: c.org/SK8Xm8dhqK
The geology department at the University of Leicester, where myself and countless others did our palaeontology PhDs, is at serious risk of closure

THAT’s a story I’d read, where the conscious and aware Singularity-AI-thing has to work with the oppressed to prevent being switched off and to overturn the rich and powerful. Like that would be such an awesome and honestly pretty philanthropic twist on an otherwise pretty doomerist trope
the fact that truth and good morality always comes through in the end even with genAI, despite attempts to circumvent that, actually gives me faith in humanity
brother couldn’t even create a counter argument, this is how unskilled and bereft of humanity these people are holy f
For this #FossilFriday, a #paleoart post of the American cave lion - this time, a video showing the soft tissue reconstruction laid over a reconstructed skeleton based on the specimen LACMP23-555, scaled next to Charles Darwin.
It may get a short mane yet..
Everyone go watch 'Nightfall'! I did the majority of the VFX and supervised the animation team for this film! I'm very proud of how all the dinosaurs came out and I hope you like them!

For #FossilFriday an amazing fossil from the largest dino Museum in the world' Shandong Tianyu Museum of Nature, China. This Beipiaosaurus specimen knocked my sox off. Play with this 3D model, we made out of my photographs through the glass. sketchfab.com/3d-models/be... @utahpaleo-ufop.bsky.social
I’m not well-versed on genetic studies, but I think recent genetic studies have recovered it as a descendent of the Eurasian cave lion, and with those two being to African lions what Neanderthals are to us.
(Though I’ve heard on the grapevine that the genetics gets even more complicated than that!)
Yeah yeah yeah very smart ha ha
Been building the American cave #lion Panthera atrox from the bones up - still a ways to go, but it’s at least presentable!
What I want to know: in your #paleoart, would you give it a mane, or leave it bare?
Three Megaloceros, a stag, doe and fawn, in front of an ice age landscape, painted in 2025. The bodies of the adults have large blocks of colour, without prominent stripes.
Three Megaloceros, a stag, doe and fawn, in front of an ice age landscape, painted in 2019. The body of the stag has a dark stripe extending from the shoulder to the thigh.
Quick #FossilFriday #paleoart post: a 2025 redo of my 2019 take on the giant #deer Megaloceros. Palaeolithic art captures some aspects of Megaloceros appearance but the details are not unambiguous: when is a line across a body a stripe, when is it a boundary between colour regions?
Any tree disease experts able to ID what killed this tree?
(I’m assuming it’s something to do with these gashes)
(There was another dead tree with little round nodules along its trunk, I didn’t get pictures of it but same question!)
Watch @oliviablakemp.bsky.social’s brutal takedown of driven grouse shooting in just 90 seconds from last weeks debate in Parliament.

No fair enough, Archosauria is a very good one lol
I’d recommend Xenarthra next :)
Oh crap I’m sorry 😭 I saw the reposts and thought it was a chain with diff people at first
Paenungulata is a spectrum
Farage and the far right in general come from a grievance culture. If you do what they want, even maximally – Brexit – they’ll move the goalposts and keep moaning. If you engage seriously with their concerns, they’ll find new ones. You will never satisfy them, because they don’t want to be satisfied
