Great to see this guide for public libraries published and all the resources accessible for library staff to explore.

I have loved working with our four partner libraries and Good Things on this project!

The case studies in this report show the wide range of volunteer roles available in our public libraries. Wonderful to see how they are being shaped by our communities.

The revised version of my article was accepted. I just need to make some small amendments and do the final submission. Great news! I appreciate the journal Editor who understands my approach!

Also, the proofs of my chapter have arrived for checking.
Exciting!

On the positive side, I was able to access 3 articles through Research Rabbit which I hadn't been able to previously.

Also remember when Research Rabbit said it would be free forever?
Finding literature without database access is difficult. Really hope the BL get access to databases back soon.

Trying to access articles when not in academia is very time consuming. I look forward to the day when library researchers embrace open access.

I am so quiet here these days. I'm immersed in the new job. 6 months in feeling settled and happy.

I had a request to peer review an today which I accepted. I also had a nudge to re-submit my article and I set a deadline so now I will get it done.

Looking forward to Day 3 of #CALC25
I'm still bringing my thoughts together after such interesting presentations yesterday. I need to make time in my diary tomorrow for a mindmap to process some of the themes because they are complex and interwoven.

How inclusive and frankly just nice to be able to view the #CALC25 slides in advance and not on Slideshare!

I am missing the first day of CALC tomorrow but looking forward to day 2 and 3. I haven't tried Discord before. Is it worth the time investment?

I guess if I did that, it would have to be on a 1-1 basis. How long would you allow for that?

LIS folks who are more familiar with UX approaches - what is a good activity for gathering user stories around an e-learning platform?

I could run online focus groups but I thought maybe a UX task would elicit more useful info. However, I've only used the love letter task before.

In this new job, I'm reading so much grey literature. Most of it I find on LinkedIn as soon as it comes out. I also watch live streams of Think Tanks discussing their reports on LinkedIn.
I'm still reading journal articles but my axis has shifted somewhat.

It sounds like today is the day to be kind to yourself. Breathe, relax, rest. The world will still keep turning. Academia will be there when you feel up to it.

I have now undertaken my first peer review. I tried to make sure I was constructive and gave examples from their text of areas where I thought they could tighten things up. I hope the person who reads it can tell that I respect their contribution.

Reviewer 3 commented that I relied too much on pre-2000 sources in the lit review. So naturally, I have analysed. Of the 51 sources cited, there were 2 sources pre-2000. One of them was John Dewey! I'm discussing educational theory. I cite the theorist and read the original text.

2/2 Reviewer 3 - Didn't think I needed to spend so much time on practitioner research in the lit review. Found the poetry confusing. Suggested I send out a survey. Or create a blueprint for a creative exercise.

Looking forward to hearing the wisdom of my mentor.

Going through my peer review ahead of meeting my mentor tomorrow. In a nutshell:
Reviewer 1 - Loved it
Reviewer 2 - Felt it was a paper of 2 halves. Would prefer 2 papers. Wants the lit review to have more discussion of the poetry but was happy with the practitioner research section 1/2
