"Dune is the paradigmatic fantasy of the Age of Aquarius. Its concerns – environmental stress, human potential, altered states of consciousness and the developing countries’ revolution against imperialism – are blended together into an era-defining vision of personal and cosmic transformation."

“It was called Mirage Studios because, as Kevin Eastman put it, ‘there wasn't an actual studio, only kitchen tables and couches with lap boards.’”
Ep 747 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Ultimate Collection Vol. 1, by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird
"I was very aware when I was writing the novel that there would be a different, much bleaker way to approach the subject matter...I felt like I was trying to thread the needle with my tone—I didn’t want to make light of serious subject matter but I didn’t want to make people feel miserable either."
"I used tarot as both inspiration and as a way of structuring the story. I knew my protagonist would be the last clone of a series...13 clones, 13 chapters, 13 cards; having this clear skeleton in place made everything else easy and the words came faster than anything I’ve ever written before."
We can’t help you for Train Dreams (haven’t covered any Denis Johnson yet) or Bugonia (a remake of a movie, which is not, by definition, a book). They’re both pretty short; if you start them right this second on mute while listening to those three episodes, you’ll be caught up by showtime.
We haven’t done Vineland (One Battle After Another), but we have done another Pynchon: Gravity’s Rainbow, episode 319.
Fast forward in episodes but backwards in history but forward again in publication: Hamnet was episode 451.
It’s Oscar’s day! Didn’t have time to read all the books that were sources for some of the Adapted Screenplays? We’ve got you!

Thanks for sharing this!
“There’s such a lack of seeing Asian American role models in American media, especially like Bruce Lee—an action hero and an icon, really. So I remember feeling, “He’s ours.” There was this special attachment to Bruce Lee and to the idea of being a kung fu fighter, and…that felt like our own thing.”
That’s not true. But Older Brother did disappear/go all the way to law school to avoid an interview with Chotiner.
