NEW POEM #207: "The Aching Heel Eyed Righteous" by Josh Gaydos (@jgwrites22.bsky.social)

"Knowing the ache in her chest won’t wholly heal
the mother instead watches spokes spin the cul de sac,
her children laugh out the airy road, pedaling snowmelt "

The end of "Transgressions" by Jack Gilbert, on this chilly morning in Michigan: "Above all, his greed. Greed of time, of being. This world, the pine woods stretching all brown or bare on either side of the railroad tracks in the winter twilight. Him feeling the cold, sinfully unshriven."

Looking for poets, poems, and so on? Here's a place to start. No promises that it includes everyone but I tried to get a lot of y'all in here. Some room to add a few more as people show up. go.bsky.app/5oLR4YJ

Happy National Poetry Month!

2 years ago 3 0 0 0

I just realized my manuscript was LISTED as a semi-finalist at Sundress last year. I read the letter with joy but am just now seeing it is public.

The past two months have been focused on linebreaks and shipping out for another round of contests.

If I change everything I've ever written to couplets, will I win the Nobel Prize in literature?

The question now is will I have more “best of luck” rejections than books read this year? Looking likely.

Poetry beach, blue sky. Hopefully this month I can pick up some sea glass and not look at one of my watches and compulsively check email.
