Born in 1941 in Drummond, New Brunswick, he rode Secretariat to a Triple Crown win in 1973. Over his career, he had 3,032 wins. He is a member of Canada's Sports Hall of Fame and a statue of him and Secretariat was unveiled in 2015 in Grand Falls, NB.
