The first few games when he was batting almost .600, all the highlights I saw were squibbers, flares and misplayed fly balls. But the last 7-14 days it seems like he’s hitting everything on the screws.

I don’t think it’s really far-fetched to say with this version of Campbell that they could release Yoshida, trade Duran, send Durbin to AAA, move Story to 2b (the throws home last night were pathetically weak), Mayer to SS, and make Campbell the 4th OF/DH … and the offense wouldn’t be any worse.

The best teams have depth. They just have it at AAA waiting for a chance rather than a player that is not optionable and overpaid.

They should have traded Duran or Yoshida and not worried about fair return. And even then it still would have behooved them to be open to Rafaela at INF once a week.

Agree on all points. And even if the logjam did take care of itself, the team is short on offense. Scoring 4 runs more than 2 games in a row feels impossible no matter the lineup configuration. Trevor Story’s arm needs addressed. Willson has bailed him out several times (twice this game), and the 2 relay throws to home were anemic. Didn’t get there and were way late.

It’s time to let Marcelo play SS full-time and move Story to 2b and make sure he understands it’s because of his arm.
