If you’re not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people being oppressed, and loving those doing the oppressing. -Malcolm X

Gregg is a former Marine and Forest Service ranger. He's saved the lives of hikers dangling off a cliff or going through cardiac arrest, and he's bravely fought forest fires to save small rural towns.
100% of his salary is paid by WA state.
Elon fired him. Share his story.
There's a rumour that Nigel Farage is keeping his head down because he's off to a Trump cheerleading conference over the weekend.
I’m afraid I’m being proved right- Farage is far more interested in Trump's success than British security. He is a bootlicker and a plastic patriot.
Same point. Finally this is being talked about in the media.
So, when will we stop being shocked by statements intended to shock us? Umm.
just don’t exist elsewhere. Their politics has always been extremist and truly bizarre , which isn’t surprising given that it’s a country that exists because it didn’t want to pay taxes and wanted to keep slaves. And given that all of Europe’s fundamentalists went there. Tbh it’s amazing it stayed
"I, a professional political commentator, was so excited about Trump persecuting minorities and trashing the climate that I was completely oblivious to his obvious sympathy with Putin. Please pay me for my political analysis."
I mean, rejoice over every sinner who repents and all that, but come on
Loved that book as a teenager
If you think, as I do, that GB News' open hostility to the LGBT+ community and Black and Brown people tacitly encourages violence we've made it very easy for you to tell Sky, one of its biggest advertisers, to stop funding hate.

Writing this with a heavy heart: the refugee citizenship ban is the single most unconscionable policy Labour has proposed since it entered power. It’s the moment that I felt my support for this administration begin to crumble inews.co.uk/opinion/colu...
This is not only morally reprehensible, but a breach of the UN Refugee Convention.
No refugee should be discriminated against on the basis of how they entered the country

1. Here are just a few of the ways in which Starmer’s Labour Party seems determined to alienate its voters and lose the next election. As they pile up, you have to keep pinching yourself and asking, “what the hell is it playing at?” 🧵
It’s quite possible to report accurately that a lot of what Trump is doing is not normal without calling him a dictator. Writing stories that pretend American politics is not undergoing radical change is deeply misleading.
For the gazillionth time, if you really want to get the disabled people who could be working into jobs you are going to have to:
Fix social care
Reform Access To Work
Beef up anti-discrimination laws
Make transport accessible
But you don't want to do that, do you?
Just checked out @sarahkendzior.bsky.social’s “Hiding in Plain Sight” (2022) from local public library (via Libby). She’s the modern-day Cassandra:
I used to scratch my head as to how they all allowed the world to go to hell in a handbasket in the 1930s and why not enough was done to prevent it. We all know now.
“Barely 24 hours into this new presidency, Trump has already taken a series of steps that would have caused widespread outrage” if taken in his first term, writes @dgraham.bsky.social. The more muted response is “a big shift from eight years ago”:
It was a Nazi salute. Don't let anyone tell you it wasn't.
Look, I make myself laugh and that's all that matters.

Let them be mad.
Let them judge you.
Let them misunderstand you.
Let them gossip about you.
Let them ignore you.
Let them be right.
Let them doubt you.
Let them hate you.
Let them run your name in the ground.
Let them make you out to be the villain.
But never let them make you question your worth.
Wow, I never knew he said this.
Jimmy Carter was ahead of his time—a man of unmatched kindness and integrity. Truly, he was too good for us.
A reminder that Sadiq Khan successfully won three elections in a row by large majorities against Conservative opponents, one of whom, Shaun Bailey, was then given a seat in the House of Lords for life.
Funnily enough I don't remember the Daily Mail describing that as a "reward for failure"
Calling Sadiq Khan's knighthood a "reward for failure" is a bit rich from the party that knighted Gavin Williamson and gave Chris Grayling a peerage.
My niece was giving me a check up and diagnosed caterpillars in my heart. 🐛♥️ If anyone knows if there’s a cure (or if it’s a good thing) I’d be very interested. She’s only three, so medical diagnosis is a bit new to her 😅
In 1979, Jimmy Carter had solar panels installed at the White House.
Ronald Reagan had them removed.
We may be able to trace back the current "Do Harmful Things if it Trolls the Libs" Republicanism to Reagan removing those panels the far more forward thinking Carter had installed.
UK's regressive tax system.
Poorest 10% of households paid 48% of income in tax; richest 10% paid 39%.
Poorest 10% paying 12% of income in VAT; richest 10% pay 3%.
Council tax: Poorest 10% paying 7%; richest 10% pay 1.2%.
No govt plans to end inequity.
