I had that same TV from elementary school until just a few years ago! Still have the muscle-memory for what all the buttons do since the labels wore off and I had to memorize them lol

Screenshot from the game Recesses, the character Wires is asking the main character: "What's it like to be normal?"
Something I wonder every day.

Is there anything better than hitting the player with this after they already thought they'd beaten the game three times before and are probably 20+ hours in? ๐ฅฐ

Big agree from me!
But it's funny how probably the #1 feedback I get from streamers/YouTubers who play my game is that they wish the card game had animations/sound effects.
"fun" being a requirement for games is what keeps this medium from being taken seriously
you're going to tell me Requiem for a Dream, The Downward Spiral, Blood Meridian, Guernica, etc, are "fun"?
masterpieces have to be interesting, not necessarily "fun"
As someone currently working on a horror game with "sensitive themes" this is ๐
*Editing the dialogue/narration for a visual novel*
Me: Oh no! If the character just does [obvious thing I didn't consider before] in this scene, that would wreck the whole plot.
*Thinks about it, then gives the player the choice to do that*
Me: Oh no! This is awesome!

Yeahhh, the English translations fall flat for sure. The ones I've looked at either feel too academic or feel like they're trying too hard to be "mystic."
At least the years of studying classical Chinese back in college still have some use! ๐
Whaaa, this is great. I'm literally re-reading the Zhuangzi right now for the first time in decades. Gonna keep an eye out for that part!
Screenshot from the game Recesses, Clair is saying: "Here we are, potentially the only intelligent life in the universe. And what have we done with such an incredible gift?"
"Wasted it by being nothing but a bunch of self-centered, power-hungry hairless monkeys screaming at each other over imaginary problems."

There are still some good ones out there. My game outright pokes fun at AI lol
Fair enough lol. It is true that a lot of CT is not nearly as much fun to play as it was 30 years ago.
Love that game! The bosses are big/epic, the dog's different forms are cool, and the puns are hilarious lol.
It's certainly no Chrono Trigger, but similar in fun to Illusion of Gaia for me.

These days, any indie game that earns back its $100 Steam deposit is a smash hit in my book.
*get to PAY 137 dollars to Valve ๐
Yeah that was a bit weird. As someone who's worked as a translator, and read/loved the Legends of Localization book on Undertale's translation, at some point ya gotta trust that there are people out there who love your project as much as you do.
I'm still waiting for some games to come out for the PS3.
There's just something aesthetically pleasing about cards being laid out and organized ๐
Someone was trying to take a portrait of their two fave Chickens, and this happened.
Screenshot from Recesses, Emily is saying: "All we can do is make the best choices possible with what's available to us."
"And even then, sometimes we still lose."
Definitely. If you're having fun, then why not? I love making new updates to my game, even if it only matters to about 2.5 people (1 of which is me) ๐
Good on you for doing what you can! It's definitely a constant battle. Whenever we let them out, we always try to stay nearby to make sure they don't eat anything too weird. But they're like toddlers, and are constantly trying to put anything they find in their mouths ๐
A crested chicken staring right at the camera with a derpy face
An x-ray of a chicken showing a screw in her stomach
Misty, our miracle chicken!
At 4 months, she ate a screw, lost the ability to walk, went through chicken physical-therapy, went away to boarding school with two 12-year-old silkies, then returned a year later voracious for snacks!
She still wobbles a bit, but she lays a big green egg every day ๐ฅฐ
Yup!
Junkyard Dawg told me that he was going this year XD
Yesss. 1 day of zombie decompression, 1 day of actual fun, 1 day of dreading the upcoming work week ๐
