So interesting landing at Fort St John airport just now and hearing everyone’s phones go off with the Emergency Alert for the landslide evacuation as they turned on their phones.

I am Sun Running for the first time in a loooooong time
Mmm petrichor
Oh boy, the Vancouver Sun Run website currently has two different versions of the start line map with very different start times for some of the divisions. 😬
Like any job, there are frustrations to be had with mine, but I do kind of love the surprises each day holds. today's, for example: "now, what tastefully homoerotic photo shall I place next to our former First Lady for this header image?" consequence.net/2026/04/jill...
Anne Hathaway bought the rights to a novel about a tradwife influencer who wakes up in 1855 and has to actually live the life she's been selling online. The book is called Yesteryear. It came out 3 days ago. The film rights were already sold to Hathaway, who will produce and star.
Holy shit, I have NEVER been more excited for a movie.

This! I was the weirdo black sheep of the family *because* I went to university and wasn't pregnant at 16.
A toss-up between Bambi, Carrie or Porky's...
Ouch! I was offered free tickets to the game this afternoon and was like 'nah, it's taco night at home'...
Oh for sure! Some of these are more like art for me, I've got them on display selves, especially since I stopped working in an office.
And for the record, the husband has more shoes than I do.
Green Fluevog loafers with blue stitching detail
Black Fluevog boots
Red and black Fluevog loafers
Black and white Fluevog pumps with pink buckles
Over on my Instagram (erin_braincandy), I’m selling a bunch of my husband’s and my extensive collection of Fluevog shoes.
Neither of us work in an office anymore, and they’re literally just gathering dust.
A headline in The Hollywood Reporter that actually reads: Paddington 4,’ ‘Escape From New York’ Reboot in the Works at StudioCanal
Obviously I read this headline as, “Paddington 4: Escape From New York’ Reboot in the Works and it’s fair to say I’m slightly disappointed now
Again, if you have a Substack, the best time to switch away was months ago -- but today's the second best time.
“In my 37 years in the travel industry, I have never seen anything like what the Canadians have pulled off,” Amir Eylon, President and CEO of Longwoods International, told Forbes.
You, Me & Tuscany2026 Watched 10 Apr 2026 A very nice rom-com. The age difference between the two leads didn't bother me as much as I expected, probably due to Regé-Jean Page *not* looking 38. Like, at all. The Tuscan scenery was gorgeous, and worth the price of admission alone. Halle Bailey's charm allowed her to make her character's less-than-flattering traits less obnoxious. I wanted more of Marco Calvani as the taxi driver, though.
My Letterboxd review of You, Me & Tuscany, which I watched in a nearly-empty theatre, except for one dude who I'm pretty sure just snuck in to take a nap.
The official poster for you me and Tuscany starting Halle Bailey and Rege-Jean Page
Just saw You, Me & Tuscany is a packed theater and it was so fun! A proper rom com. Halle and Rege Jean both need to keep making romantic comedies. They were in their element. The supporting cast was phenomenal. Go see it!
interesting that when a movie with female protagonists does poorly the response is to cancel upcoming projects with female protagonists and when a movie with female protagonists is a huge hit the response is to cancel upcoming projects with female protagonists
A screenshot of an email promoting a lunch and learn hosted by Story Summit called "AI for Writers with Brian Landwehr" which will supposedly be "a practical and thoughtful exploration of how writers can effectively and responsibly use AI as part of their creative process."
Well, that's disgusting. I just unsubscribed from the Story Summit writer community.
Splashdown!
According to the Cineplex website, I'm going to be the only person at the 1:30pm matinee, so that's not great.
Games like darts, billiards, bowling and chess completely give away what's going on.
The ONLY reason to segregate these sports by sex in the first place is because men cannot emotionally handle losing to women.
The ONLY reason to lock out trans people is bigotry.
Thank you, Claire! This Canadian atheist is here for the explanation of drama I don't understand, and you always deliver.
Reposting for the evening crowd...
The white roof and spires of BC Place pop against a bright blue Vancouver sky
I got an email today from Expedia promoting 10% off hotels for the Vancouver matches of FIFA 2026.
Meanwhile, this is the view from my apartment…
when the host country openly tells visitors it doesn't want them while the organising body thinks this is 2006 Germany and acts like everyone who wants a ticket must complete a 15 stage challenge course to earn one, the result tends to suck for everyone else
Today is Rex Manning Day, a holiday from the film Empire Records, which remains at its core a movie about resistance against corporate greed at the expense of people and art
now more than ever, in our fight against ai and its many harms to humanity, we must DAMN THE MAN, and SAVE THE EMPIRE!
