The number of Republicans crashing out about getting nakedly gerrymandered is, unironically, a sign that we need to do more of it. You guys are correct! This shit sucks! Welcome to the party, pals! We can all stop doing it any time you like!

MNPD has released the name of Hershel Trotter, 66, who was killed cycling on Harding Place this past Saturday, April 18th.
Thirteen U.S. troops died trying to get these people to safety — Afghan interpreters, soldiers, and the families of our service members. Veterans spent sleepless nights during the chaotic withdrawal fighting to keep them alive. Now our own government is going to abandon them.
Make it 1997 again by science or magic?
"Carter lost Vietnam" was the original "Biden was in charge for all the Covid lockdowns" bsky.app/profile/niss...
This is genuinely one of the foundational copes of the modern conservative movement, a stabbed-in-the-back narrative about why the US lost Vietnam
Good things still possible, happening
Official proclamation from the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, signed by Mayor Freddie O’Connell, declaring April 20, 2026 as Todd Snider Day in Nashville. The document honors Snider’s impact on East Nashville, songwriting legacy, mentorship, and lasting influence on the city’s music and creative community.
A legend gets his day. April 20 is officially Todd Snider Day in Nashville – where we honor his legacy, music, and lasting impact on the city he loved.
FT: Incredible! What a win for Nashville SC! The first MLS team to ever win a competitive match at Estadio Azteca! Biggest win in club history!
I just want to point out how insane it is that Nashville SC are in the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals, have knocked out Inter Miami and Club América, and have only conceded one goal in the process.
In their four matches against Miami and América, they allowed just 2.34 xG. This defense is elite.
Listen to Shun! A rare(?) confluence of expertise on both languages and robots!
I do think estate taxes are a logical and useful place to address deferred taxation as well.
I love the aesthetic and hope for a masonry revival everywhere. Has there been any study on how the additional cost has been borne by the housing market?
Paying millions for extra confirmation bias
“I learned that stories are 22x more powerful than facts and it helped me convince my uncle to stop being such a dick about concussion subs. We now see each other for a pleasant night of pub trivia twice a month.”
In addition to being incredibly talented and genuinely great human beings, The Pioneers built 20 of the benches that were placed across Nashville bus stops a few weeks ago. Let’s send them to Worlds!

Jorginho losing track of who he was supposed to be marking now I've seen everything
'the pope is an American because the Vatican is out to get me' is terrific because it's both a thing an insane person would think and also probably true.
The unifying figure running under the banner of a previously insignificant party seems load-bearing for this sort of mandate, and I suspect the obstacles to that scenario in the US make it very unlikely to occur here.
I think there just isn’t a parallel US scenario bc of our party system. A GOPer running as a Dem still hits a ceiling from negative partisanship. Would have to be an Osborne for Sen situation where the Dems basically lay down. But you’d still need some sort of party org to get on the ballot. Tricky
damn it worked
Tampopo walked so they could run, I gather
yeah I think this is a good way of putting it (re: my essay on "the affordability trap"). people's conceptions of what good housing/schools/jobs are change over time in a way that policy is not responsive to. the demand curve changes while the eq point holds steady - political sentiment lies there
Andrew Gelman is (last I checked) a legit statistician whose blog was was an important resource for spotlighting shoddy quantitative work in the sciences and misleading promotion of same in the press. Not the most flattering company for him
