Charitably I people are burnt out on the sad dad genre (although are there actually that many? GoW ,Last of us, nier?) and I def think a subset of gamers (& maybe capcom) are super weird about the girl's character design, but it's also very funny to see people woke themselves into being reactionary

Catching up on the Pragmata discourse is fun because people are being weird about it from literally every angle

Finally read the palantir manifesto and it's like cartoonishly evil to the point I can't believe this is a real company that exists. Genuinely this company needs to be torn to the ground and it's leadership thrown in a gulag

In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.

#21- the Last Wave

Went in expecting Aussie to kill a mockingbird, got something far stranger & wetter than I could possibly imagine. Peter Weir is quickly shaping up to be a favorite. Evokes dream imagery in a way I've only seen from lynch. Very slow and languid, not for everyone but I loved it

#20- the Super Mario Bros Movie

Finally sat and watched this. Kind of a nothing movie, but pleasant with lots of cute little Easter eggs. Jack Black and Charlie really carry. The best illumination film, a very very low bar but I had fun
