Today is a good day to buy a book.

So excited to share that my first published book will be coming to shelves Fall of 2027!
This administration openly hates Black women and I dare anyone to challenge me. They absolutely despise us. Honestly, this country has never been safe for us, but it's even less safe now.
YAYYYYYY π₯³!!!! Iβm looking forward to it!!!!!
AHHH SOOO EXCITING!!!
the cover of my short story collection (lol in this economy) BLACK ARTS. The cover art is Stacey Gillian Abe's The Sitting. It features a Black woman with blue skin (she works with the idea of indigo as a spiritual and protective force) covering her body with a teal silk sheet and she reclines on a white surface. A gold string is looped around her arm and hand.
listen up readers, my first short story collection is coming out and look at this cover (and lol I like the spine so much I had to include it)
An anthology you DO NOT want to miss! Featuring some of the incredible authors we've been so privileged to publish over this past decade! Please share this post with fans and readers of Black SFF. Guaranteed you will help someone find their next favorite storyteller in these pages!

** Also they will yell at me if I donβt.

of course you're not self-absorbed for hoping something you put lots of effort into is liked by others. You created it. Your brain produced that glorious sauce. That is no small thing. Got, fucko? It also doesn't invalidate your efforts if it doesn't magically pop off either. Keep swinging that axe.
header: Megan Giddings (image is a full page from first pass of Black Arts) "I thought you were only going to date white guys named Liam for the rest of your life." Lyn rolls her eyes. She's done that only twice, and each time it ended up being such a monumentally poor decision that she has a strict anti-Liam rule. Her dad had referred to her last Liam as a real Ashton Kutcher type until Liz taught him the word "himbo." But she also likes Liams, you don't have to know them because they don't want to be known. You don't have to feel bad if things go wrong. They are the type of men who barely want to be people; they are bags of memes and broccoli head haircuts and their big revelations are always a white dad who thought it would be soft to say I love you or having really taken it too far during frat recruitment. "How can you live a full and interesting romantic life if you're not dating people different from you? We were put on this Earth to experience many people. You are too old to have only experienced white dick," Liz says. She takes a long sip from her mug. The screen is clear and despite how annoying Liz is, Lyn can't help but notice how beautiful her older sister is. As always when Liz says a devastating truth wrapped in a joke, Lyn freezes. Liz is terrifying to disagree with, she has a brain that seems to use a vast amount of its processing power to remember every weird or problematic thing anyone has ever said. She is hilarious, too, and mostly kind. To say only white men are ever interested in Lyn would make Liz laugh so hard it would be heard around the world.
first pass is always weird for me but I still like this page (and if you like this page, this short story collection comes out in September!!)

Fascism is here and yet we insist on continuing to make things. Keep creating. It's so important. Do not let the fascists colonize your imagination or curtail your creativity.
Friends, "To Kill A Language" was voted as the Best Flash Fiction in Apex Choice Awards 2025. I'm officially an award winning writer!

The dangerous anti-LGBT+ bill is back in Ghana, with stronger political support. We stopped it once. Letβs stop it again. Sign to defend equality and human rights. a.allout.org/s/P3wrb/
It feels sometimes, like people forget how brutal evictions really are. In Minnesota, you only get a 14 day notice before a potential eviction. Your eviction follows you which makes it almost impossible to find housing again and there are very few social safety nets for being unhoused
Something I'm noticing: LLMs basically trained on the same stolen works of fiction, so I think "writers" who use AI to write their books will eventually start sounding alike. I already see it happening, hear it in cadence and turns of phrase that sound identical from book to book. π€·πΎββοΈ
hey, this might sound a little freaky, maybe even a little radical, but I think the focus should be making sure writers/artists are properly compensated, supported, and have a secure way of living/creating instead of trying to replace us with robots, and/or having us train them.
ICYMI, our general submission window is open this entire month!
We want stories and poetry with a strong voice and a sense of adventure, stuff that makes us feel things, stuff that lets us use our hearts and our brains and leaves us wanting more!

βIf I can generate a book in a day, and you need six months to write a book, whoβs going to win the race?β she said.
Ma'am, we are not in the same "race" at all. In fact, we're not in the same league.
My conference paper was accepted! π
Has reading or writing speculative fiction supported your mental health in any way?
If it has, please please take 10 mins to tell me about it here: www.cognitoforms.com/InnerWorlds1...

AI could never do what an actual human writer does. AI could never do what I do as an editor and agent. And AI could absolutely never do what artists do.
so, if someone made 5 figures using a software program that stole my work where is my cut of their books because I helped write books
If AI βauthorsβ and βartistsβ are so proud of their use of plagiarism-bots, why do NONE of them label their work as AI-generated?
They all pretend they did it themselves because they *know* audiences hate it and *know* they will be judged for it.
Keep rejecting AI and support humans ππ
Writing a book isn't about competition, it isn't about winning or getting rich, it's about sitting down with your fucked-up thoughts and weird ideas and putting them on paper to traumatize people who read them. AI will never get that part right.
Stand alone fantasy novels just hit different π #BookSky πππͺ
