Aarktica x The Ellipsist
Burial meets Violator-era Depeche Mode on this soulful reimagining of Aarktica’s “Trick of the Light.” Darkly danceable, irresistible melancholia.

This is very good to know! PS Much love to former labelmates Hammock always ❤️
One of those bands that, as they evolved and morphed into something new with each album, grew more and more influential for me in new ways. And always the most interesting blend of pastoral and dub.
Aarktica was fortunate enough to open one of their NYC appearances. A career highlight for sure.

Aarktica - “Why Say Anything?” (Black Tape for a Blue Girl remix) out today 🖤
Sam of BTFABG deconstructs Aarktica’s fuzz-folk paean, stripping the guitars and bringing DeRosa’s voice to the forefront, enrobed in ebbing & flowing analog synths.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Sometimes, but not always, LPs I reviewed get shorter blurbs because I've already said my piece there. This is one of those!

Hey it’s December 24 and I haven’t been good but I wouldn’t say I was naughty either. Here’s a really good song for you to enjoy together with your family and loved ones. Laughing in The Rain by Aarktica. A personal favorite musician of mine. Thanks for a great year.

Thanks so much Dreams of Consciousness (@thewizardofawesome.bsky.social) for the thoughtful interview. An honor to be in the four timer club…
A little self-promotion, but I hope you’ll have a listen regardless 🙏

This is one reason why I appreciate it so much when you (and others) are able to make time to even listen to something I send your way, let alone review it. I never take that for granted and I really appreciate it.
“Listen carefully to first criticisms made of your work. Note just what it is about your work that critics don't like ― then cultivate it. That's the only part of your work that's individual and worth keeping.” ― Jean Cocteau
The depth of the shame of a country this wealthy and abundant allowing its people to go hungry is impossible to measure. The fact that a handful of people could fix this by paying their fair share of taxes while still remaining obscenely wealthy makes it even worse.
The blissfully hypnotic “To Love is To Believe” ensues, captivating from the get-go with its simmering strings and rhythmic bolstering, finding a middle ground between dream-pop and trip-hop. - @obscuresound.bsky.social

a TEST PRESSING vinyl next to a regular vinyl, both of Aarktica No Solace In Sleep. the test pressing has a bunch of text intended for Jon about how to review and accept your test pressing from the vinyl maker the regular album is a horizontal bar of blue at top and bottom, with an out of focus photography in the middle, what seems to be land, but a fuzzy black shape to the horizon, then above it what seems to be cloudy sky. a figure stands near the left, a black fuzzy blog interrupting the sky but blending seamlessly with the land. the figure appears to be a man taking a photograph
