The settlement requires the United States to compensate our clients for injuries caused by federal law enforcement. In exchange, our clients agree to dismiss their lawsuit.

📄 The ACLU of Oregon filed multiple lawsuits against the Trump administration, including one for beating, shooting, and abducting peaceful protesters in Portland. Today, we announce that one of these protest cases has settled.

These federal forces attacked everyday people at the 2020 racial justice protests — including journalists, medics, and veterans — with physical and chemical weapons that create severe risks to human life and health and our water, soil, and air.

In 2020, then-President Donald Trump directed hundreds of federal border patrol agents and other federal law enforcement to storm Portland, Oregon.
