A line chart titled “Share of the population that was born in another country” shows the percentage of immigrants in nine countries from 1990 to 2024. Australia’s line starts near 25% in 1990 and climbs to almost 30% by 2024, remaining the highest. Canada rises from around 15% to over 20%. Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States each start below 10% and steadily increase to between 15% and 20%. France begins around 10% and grows to approximately 14%. Peru starts near 0% and rises above 5% after 2015. India and China both remain close to 0% throughout the period. The data source is the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (2024).

This is data on migrant stocks sourced from the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA). Previously we only had data up to 2020 — now we have through 2024.
