I was a sophomore in high school when it happened, and I remember the school's response was to "ban trench coats." 🤔

People might kill people, but guns do it faster and more efficiently.

We needed gun control then and we need it now.

I was a sophomore too. And I also get incredibly angry when I think about how effective the media messaging was about them being bullied as opposed to being white supremacist bullies.

Love coming home from a full day of meetings to my kid yelling at me that she shouldn't have to go to the makeup school vacation dance class (after she's missed lots of classes) because "I've been sitting on the couch all day so it's going to be very stressful for my body!"

The way qualified education expenses are defined by the federal government only includes things for which schools bill parents. “Unfortunately, when you dig into the text of the statute and what the regulations are from the IRS and from others, it becomes very clear that a qualified education expense, as it’s referenced in the Internal Revenue Code and by the Coverdell Education Savings Account, does not include anything like special education expenses,” Fliter said.

This is impt for people hoping that the federal voucher-ish program can be used to help public schools. THE $ CAN ONLY BE USED FOR THINGS THAT FAMILIES WOULD OTHERWISE PAY FOR. It can conceivably help public school enrollees get outside services, but that's it.

Thank you. It was long enough ago that I feel comfortable talking about it to help others understand how some of these dimensions worked. And absolutely, restraining orders are incredibly difficult and insufficient. There's no piece of paper in a filing cabinet that acts as a magic forcefield.

If you're asking "why didn't she leave sooner?" about Cerina Fairfax, I don't know what to tell you. She was murdered for trying to leave. 18 yrs ago the cops were called to my cousin's house the night before she was murdered and the papers still blamed her for a lapsed restraining order.
