Profiles in Courage "It's the right thing to do"

I don’t think that Starmer should resign because of what he said to Parliament about vetting. But if he can't appoint a team that can deliver, and if he continues to believe that problems are of everyone else’s making, it does seem he might not be in the right job.

So, yes, when suggesting a ban on phones or social media for kids, you should be thinking exactly about the extreme examples who might *need* both. You should be considering them *before* considering the mainstream.

What should have happened: the REIT paid no tax but the Tice companies holding shares in the REIT paid £98k tax on the dividends they received.

What actually happened: none of the companies paid any tax.

Our new report: Richard Tice signed accounts wrongly claiming £98,000 of tax exemptions

Braverman - twice Conservative Home Secretary - in a period that saw record migration figures.

They really do think people are dumb.

Nick Robinson knows this is a lie, it’s not like it was some abstract claim from some dodgy thinktank. Why the fuck do we send children to school if we allow misinformation on TV.

We need to remove Robbie Gibb and the right wing plants from the BBC and give someone like Emily Maitlis the top job.

You always get a lot of angry replies here if you complain about the Greens blocking solar farms or power grid upgrades. Maybe they should stop instigating pile-ons and start instigating pylons.

How on Earth is this going to be implemented? Goodbye to small concerns focused on quality and sustainability. Great for large scale cheaply processed muck. C'mon guys...not a sensible policy.

Really important point about the quality, that's essential for nutrition and better health outcomes.

Farage and co are promising to “reverse the Boriswave” again today. Apart from the fact that two of the main architects of Tory home affairs policy at the time are now senior figures in Reform, net migration is already down 80% since the Boris peak. Is it too much to ask our media to point this out?

can tell it’s going to annoy me how much time is spent on North Sea oil and gas in this election despite the issue being (a) not nearly as important as most people are making out and (b) entirely reserved to Westminster

I’ve been in several negotiations with Iranians. They are tough as nails. Even agreeing when to take a break, or the seating plan, is a battle. They fight everything until you reach a point where it seems a success that the meeting happened at all. That’s what they do. US is totally outmatched.

JD Vance is America’s Liz Truss. She killed the Queen. He killed the Pope and now, metaphorically, Viktor Orbán.

What a lovely night to be on Bluesky. Partly because of the election result, but also because I just love it when you guys all start posting like little diplomats. Putting out your wee statements on the Current Situation. Reacting as developents emerge. I am reading each and every one and nodding.

Pub landlady blasts 'tight-fisted' Labour MP for only ordering starter Karen Errington, the chef-owner of the Rat Inn in the hamlet of Anick, near the Northumbrian town of Hexham, didn't name the allegedly parsimonious politician.

Labour MP gets dragged publicly by a pub landlady for having the audacity to go into her pub, order food and spend money. Honestly no wonder decent people don’t want to go into public life. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...

🦉 We are delighted to share the first images from barn owl nest cameras at our Glen Devon Woodlands in Perthshire.

This little compilation covers the birds' early courtship back in December through to laying of the first egg this week.😀

Oh boy! What a headline...

Ask yourself:

"What am I being asked to believe?"

"Who am I being told to blame?"

Take a few seconds to imagine what the Daily Mail (And Telegraph, GB News and Express) WANT you to think is going on.

Let's see what's ACTUALLY happening...🧵

I’ve changed my mind and changed my position. I think the Labour government should now campaign on rejoining the Single Market and the Customs Union at the next General Election.

The economy is not going to grow sufficiently to improve living standards until we do.
