everyone with real American manliness and a basic knowledge of military history knows that serious war efforts have never been derailed by such trifling matters as "communicable diseases"

Meet Muffin the cat.
Part greeter, part ambassador at the public library in Dorval, Quebec.
Unfortunately, Muffin was "banned from the yacht club" ("catto non grata") nearby after a feline fracas.

Sad to share that today is my last as investigative editor at ITT, following layoffs that affected about half the staff. For the immediate future I’ll be finishing a book about the Catholic right. Not sure what comes after that, but am open for job leads, freelancing, editing gigs, rich patrons, etc
Netanyahu doesn't care about Americans being killed in the West Bank, Palestinians being starved to death, or the intentional targeting of medical personnel and UN observers in Lebanon, but man, are they worried about losing the support of US Evangelicals. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/m...

The Deutschland-Ticket, providing unlimited regional public transport for €63/month, is used by around 15m people in 🇩🇪.
According to a recent report, 12-20% of the journeys made with it, would have been made by car, which saved 2.5m tonnes of CO₂ per year. #GermanClimateAction
A maternity ward doctor donated his own blood during surgery to keep a pregnant patient alive.
One woman gained fewer than 10 pounds over her entire pregnancy.

A terracotta figurine of a dog standing on four legs, holding a small animal in its mouth. The dog has a slender body, pointed ears, and a slightly curved tail. The surface of the sculpture is rough and textured, with patches of white primer. The small animal in the dog's mouth appears to be another quadruped, possibly a hare or a smaller dog. The sculpture is displayed on a white surface against a neutral beige background.

I like Presidents who DON'T tweet.
Given the huge early turnout in Hungary odds seem very high that Magyar wil defeat Orbán very decisively; the question in that case would be whether Orbán goes with the Ukrainian electoral interference lie he has been preparing and whether foreign actors support him.

Hello Megan, please help me. You're the only one who can save me and help me. My teeth hurt so much, l can't sleep or eat because of the pain. 10:19AM I spoke to the doctor, and he told me I need a panoramic dental x-ray and surgery to extract my wisdom tooth and have two molars filled with root canals. This is a bit expensive, and I can't afford these costs.
sorry for the short notice everyone but emergency funds needed for my friend maha! she needs her wisdom teeth extracted and multiple root canals. she’s the only person caring for her young baby, she needs to stay healthy so they both can survive. can you help? gofund.me/7098184e6

Apparently, Paolo Zampolli (he’s in Trump‘s cabinet) was in Hungary with Vance trying to get Orban elected. While there, Zampolli was actively trying to harass his victims, trying to silence them & offering them money so they’ll stop talking to journalists.⬇️

An mRNA treatment for PANCREATIC CANCER was in trials, among many other uses. Choosing to end this research is choosing to sentence millions to an early, painful death
In his first 100 days, Zohran Mamdani has:
-Delivered millions in restitution for workers cheated by gig companies
-Cracked down on predatory landlords
-Launched the first stage of a universal childcare program
-Fixed thousands of potholes in NYC streets
This is what leadership looks like.
Modeled on the Arc de Triomphe? Nope. That is cribbed from Speer with an eagle slapped on it and clearly wanting to lean on the connection to Berlin.
sometimes i wander over to a part of this site i'm not supposed to be on, start reading posts, and think 'god i hope whatever happened to make you this way does not happen to me'
I used to run half-marathons, and a 6-mile run was a short workout that felt good. Two decades and several medical fuckups later, I am humbled as I am trying to run again. It is more like slow run-walking with knee braces—aging is real. I’m hoping I can get back to a 5k.
Deepest condolences to you and your family.

Hmm perhaps do not unilaterally attack a sovereign nation in a war of aggression, then try and bully your allies into joining your folly
This exquisite cameo depicts Drusus, the younger brother of Tiberius. With its plasticity, depth and detail, not to mention the striking azure colour, it is, quite simply, a masterpiece of cameo work.
