New paper in Imaging Neuroscience by Yuanyuan Weng, Jelmer P. Borst, and Elkan G. Akyürek:
Sustained alpha oscillations serve attentional prioritization in working memory, not maintenance

Using time-resolved EEG/MEG decoding?🧠 Here’s a new approach!
No feature engineering (decode from raw signals), but capturing info that standard decoding often misses (oscillatory/aperiodic activity, connectivity).
Lightweight, INTERPRETABLE, and easy to use. (1/6)

JOB ALERT: PhD opening in my lab!
@cimecunitrento.bsky.social
in Italy, as part of an Italian FIS3 starting grant.
The project will use advanced analysis methods of MEG data to investigate how our world's naturalistic hierarchical structure facilitates predictive neural processing.
The Orange Cat Brain Atlas is here. 🧠🐈
Today, we published the first comprehensive cellular map of the orange cat brain. The new atlas reveals a single, specialized neuron responsible for behaviors like staring at walls, knocking objects off tables, and the 3am "zoomies."
We have a new PhD position at the University of Zurich to work on visual working memory. For more info see here:

A fun first foray into modeling for me and the last paper from my dissertation! Glad to see it finally out
And secondly we use computational modeling of reaction time distributions to show that learned spatial suppression is more proactive than reactive (though in theory still probably a combination of both)
In it we first use psychophysics to show how selection history alters perceptual reports similar to exogenous and endogenous attention!
Check out our new paper out in communications psychology! @commspsychol.nature.com
How do humans adapt their behavior in natural, uncertain environments? Open PhD position in the collaborative DFG Excellence Cluster “The Adaptive Mind” (theadaptivemind-excellencecluster.de)

Recently, van der Stigchel and colleagues posted a provocative commentary suggesting that we should be wary of bots in online behavioral data collection (🧵by @cstrauch.bsky.social here: bsky.app/profile/cstr...). But should we? Here is my response letter osf.io/preprints/ps.... 1/5
