Europe's Power is Defined by the Ability to Take Action in Ukraine Only Europe can take the action necessary to defeat Russia, save Ukraine and the international rules-based order, and reclaim the bloc's geopolitical power.

Important RUSI-piece:

"The war is in Europe, and Europe must respond with action. Launching a humanitarian military mission focused on helping Ukraine defend against air threats is one of many steps that could turn the tide of this war and make Europe safe again."

I grew so frustrated with Arctic security research, as it was often dominated by by white alpha males - was so incredibly colonial. This is really frosting on the cake

NSF LTER program “archived”.

LTER=“Long Term Ecological Research”.

This program has been incredibly successful, incredibly frugal for what they accomplish, and…of course…targeted by evil know-nothings.

My heart is breaking.

IEA warns of historic oil supply shock as Iran war disruption persists The International Energy Agency (IEA) has warned of an unprecedented energy shock, with global oil production plunging by over 10 million barrels per day in March, as diplomatic efforts between Washin...

"In Singapore, the price for middle distillates reached all-time highs above $290 per barrel, reflecting the desperation of refiners to secure any available product. The IEA notes ... overall tightness in the market is unsustainable for the global industry." www.euronews.com/business/202...

a chart showing various oil scenarios and actual oil demand aligning to the higher oil consumption ones

If the world had followed ambitious climate scenarios, global oil demand would be at least 20% lower than it is today - about the same volume of oil that flows through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Gorgon Trap: Entropy, Cognitive Paralysis, and the Mechanics of Cognitive Warfare Modern cognitive warfare (CW) extends beyond traditional influence operations aimed at persuasion; its primary objective is often the induction of systemic cognitive paralysis, a phenomenon we term the "Gorgon Trap." Classical information frameworks, rooted in Shannon’s transmission models and Dempster-Shafer theory, fail to capture the mechanics and dynamics of these modern attacks because they assume a rational actor processing a stable and predictable hypothesis space. By bridging military theory with quantum cognition, this paper reconceptualizes targeted societies as complex systems represented by a density matrix. We model how adversaries utilize "White Noise" (dimensional expansion) and "Black Noise" (signal suppression) to deliberately maximize von Neumann entropy within a target. In this expanded environment, traditional game-theoretic payoff matrices dissolve, and the effective capacity to act approaches zero, leading to catastrophic OODA loop failure. Finally, to counter the onset of institutional necrosis, we propose a shift away from passive fact-checking toward an offensive doctrine of active "Narrative Interruption."

A simplified concept paper on cognitive warfare presented this week at Cambridge University (the math heavier version is under review)
