Gonna have to work up the courage to try a claw trimming today, because even though he doesn't seem interested in scratching stuff his default comfort response has been kneading dough, and I would like to try to have fewer holes in my clothes and my blankets and my me. 😰

Did a "trial run" of just keeping him inside and soothing him through the initial anxiety for a bit, with plans to do the real thing tomorrow, and it ended up actually going so well that he's already warming up to being in the house, so I think we're just good to get started, finally!

Since my roommate has been planning on having people over today I will probably just keep up with the current strategy for the moment just in case, and then tomorrow see how it goes with the more direct exposure therapy.

Unfortunately, even though he does still want to be near me and particularly to curl up in my lap, he still hates having the door closed behind him even more, and I am being told that I may have to just force the issue until he can get over the initial panic and start to adjust to being inside. 😵

Trying not to get discouraged as this idiot decides he would rather suffer in the cold, wet snow for an entire day than spend one (1) second behind a closed door. 🙃

This is likely going to be a very slow, gradual process, but the goal here is that even if he wants to still be outdoors part-time he needs to realize that cuddle time has to be inside now. He can have both if he wants, but they have to be separate and discrete things.

Gonna try a slower, more deliberate strategy today, where I slowly close the door behind him as he comes in. I want to emphasize that he isn't meant to feel trapped in here, but also that time with me has to start being inside with door closed until he's ready to be let out again.

He was doing relatively okay exploring but then panicked as soon as I closed the door. Gonna have to hope he'll be okay out in the cold and then try again tomorrow, I guess.
