Max Payne (1) had a movement and aiming flow to it that felt really rewarding in shootouts. Not so much when it came to jumping sections, though.

Currently working my way through a long historical list of ~1000 important movies and oof, best decision ever 😱 didn't even think lists could be that motivating to me...

The creative benefits of technical limitation ;)

Guess I'm in good in company 😁 Hope I'll get there at some point as well. Really need to learn how to pin down core game loops first though...

Reminding myself it’s totally fine (and probably not that uncommon?) to work on like 6 or 7 games simultaneously, and never really finishing anything πŸ˜…

At least I’ve learned to aggressively milk each project for reusable code and submodules, so I need to touch basic stuff less and less by now...

The Good, the Bad and the Unfinished Reviewing Public Domain Amiga Games

Dear god, as if I haven’t dozens of unfinished projects in limbo already, I’ve started a blog for reviewing crummy old Amiga public domain games πŸ™ˆ #retrogaming #retro #blog #amiga #publicdomain #shareware

Oh man, I love Olof Gustafsson/Blaizer, never played Pinball Illusions but was playing Pinball Dreams constantly because his tunes just rocked!

Never got anywhere with this as a child, but I distinctly remember the weird (and dynamic?) ambient sounds and that heart beat, which both gave this a strangely primordial and foreboding atmosphere, better than any music ever could.

Remember playing a demo of this from some cover CD on the Amiga 4000 and having no idea what the heck I was doing and what the actual goal was πŸ˜‚ Felt very grim and cynical though.

I just finished Teatro Grottesco again after a few years, and it made me laugh out loud in so many places with its sheer grotesque descriptions and strange non-persons, while managing to be deeply depressing and weirdly uplifting at the same time. Definitely some of his best stories!

If you have to go through all kinds of hoops trying to get a technology to accomplish a simple task that a random person could do without even using their brain consciously, that technology is fundamentally broken or nothing more than a mental projection of what you'd like it to be.

So you literally just poke around in it randomly (excuse me, "prompt engineering") for long enough until it comes up with with the right answer by accident after like 10 wrong ones.

With that approach you could also get a dog or a newborn baby to solve complex problems πŸ˜‚

Ah, that's the version we had, memories 🀩 And I just love that tune.

Quote with a title screen that is important to you

That gritty title tune by Richard Joseph has been stuck with me since forever, sooo catchy!

What's a game you feel only you have played?

Practically Worms 2 with the pixel graphics of Worms 1, but specifically for AGA Amigas.
From 1997, when the platform was already pretty dead, but Team 17 honored their roots 🫑
And painting levels in Deluxe Paint was a lot of fun!

That track was so damn thrilling back then! Heightened by the fact I wasn't allowed to play C&C as I was like 10 or so πŸ˜‚

Not a fan of these weird remixes though (even if they are made by Klepacki himself, I suppose). The rougher mono originals on the game CD are just perfect imho.

Yeah I guess this is pretty much a special interest thing πŸ˜… Insane musicianship though.

I'd say technical progressive jazz metal with early 2000s computer nerd themes describes it pretty accurately πŸ˜‚
