It’s a simple trick called spoofing. Email transfer protocols are dumb and simple at their core but there are basic security protocols than your it folks can implement to reduce that.

We absolutely played records all day long when he wasn’t there.
I had just turned it on too.
What were they jamming on/out of?
He was a bit nuts.
It’s real. At the record store I worked at in the 90s we were required to only play radio unless sampling a record (No Full Songs!) because the boss was afraid of the rights orgs.
Basically DIY and small venues do this to avoid being targeted by performance rights orgs like BMI or ASCAP. I’m not sure the cost of the contracts but this is definitely a cheaper path.
Pitting space exploration against social services is a false dichotomy. They’re both critically important, and we could absolutely afford both if we stopped dumping money into killing machines and taxed rich people their fair share.
Don’t get hung up attacking the wrong people.
Chez with major “I am also here” energy.
Haven’t run into those guys at a show in AGES.
The question to ask yourself is, “Am I prepared to go without this when it disappears from streaming?”
Not “if”.
“When.”
I wouldn’t
I suspect that there are media consumers in your area.
There’s a reason we call them a “jamband” rather than a “vocal ensemble”.
This was really just a shot at the lede.
Did a streaming provider or other revenue source for a billionaire write this article?
Sure. The guy I’m complaining about is an attorney. The guy he talks loudly with in the hall outside my office is also an attorney. They’re getting things done and billing hours.
I could do all my shit from home and they’d never disturb or miss me.
And to any prick who is tempted to say, “then no one will want to do the shitty jobs”
We already do not want to do them but the economy is a predator seeking to kill us all.
Ban billionaires.
UBI & healthcare for all so people can have the opportunity to move into the kind of work that actually suits and fulfills them and doesn’t make them contemplate walking through plate-glass to get the day off.
I despise coming in to my office, not just because it lacks any practical value and costs me money but because I’m currently in an office quietly working and the guy next door is on a speakerphone call on his cell phone with the door open and hollering loudly.
Joel!
oh blue sky your repeatedly telling me "forbidden" just makes me want you more
Yet.
Yes
I already wrote about it in my journal.
Do you mean the Phish?
They are doing webcasts.
"The masters of war pretend not to know that it takes only a moment to destroy, yet a lifetime is often not enough to rebuild. They turn a blind eye to the fact that billions of dollars are spent on killing and devastation, yet the resources needed for healing, education and restoration are nowhere to be found." -Pope Leo XIV
woah
Embedded browser from another app so, no.
And by the time I got annoyed enough to do anything I just closed the article.
The threat is that some stuff will go directly there as it’s coupled with an ongoing digitization effort.
Everything that’s been “released”.
That is promised but for now all of the released stuff is there, including cd-only releases like Dave’s Picks.
